Good Question! You can buy another cable (cord with yellow, red, and white) from your old Wii or you can buy one. The only problem is that you won't get HD from your HD TV.

If you have the wii u transfer on the original wii then yes if you don't have it you can't download it again because nintendo shutdown the wifi for ds and wii

Fast Gamez IDK, but for whatever reason it still works. Maybe because Club Nintendo is shutting down and some of the rewards are virtual console games for the original Wii U.

Fast Gamez Nintendo only shut down the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Server for Online Play, Everything else such as using Video Streaming Apps, Wii Shop Channel, and so on so forth still work, meaning that you can still get the System Transfer Channel.

What a load of crap!! Sorry Nintendo, you screwed up big on the transfer process. Like the new console, but I've NEVER seen a more convoluted pile of garbage attempting to mascarade as a remotely reasonable process for data transfer! Just... wow.

I know this is 3 years late, but it really isn't all Nintendo's fault. First off, the reason the transfer process is so difficult is because of 2 things. One, the way the Wii was programmed; and two, because all of your content is tied to the CONSOLE and not an ACCOUNT, like how Microsoft and Sony do it. This is partly because the Wii was the first home entertainment console to introduce things like a Digital Shop, Downloadable Content, etc. They were pretty much the guinea pigs, and there were flaws since they were the first. It was these flaws that Microsoft and Sony were able to shape and make theirs much better. Since the Wii was not programmed or designed with an Account Interface in mind, and all the Anti-Piracy and Anti-Copying stuff they implicated, this is really the only way possible to do a system transfer from a console as old as a Wii, to a console as new as a Wii U. Give Nintendo some f-ing credit! They were the first to introduce the type of Online Interactions that are standard in consoles today! Your first attempt isn't going to be perfect...

It would have to be. There are no gamecube controller ports, so they would have to reprogram gamecube games to work with the gamepad or the controller pro.

My brother stupidly sold his Wii console to a friend. Other brother bought the Wii Console about a few months after the 1st one sold it, alongside with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. (Almost went nuts when I thought we could go crazy on it again like back then so I bought 4 Gamecube controllers from gamestop.) We got ready to go Nuts on the Brawl just to come and realize that Nintendo Got rid of all Gamecube compatibility in the New Black version that they made.. nearly threw controllers at the wall.

Yes, you can contact Nintendo customer support and they'll be able to take care of that. They did it for me. I had the same thing happen. I regret it though. Just to be forwarned, my wii started to "semi" work again, and I can now play it in maintenance mode. However, I have wii shop points that I want to use to download games but the channel will no longer work because of the transfer. I have all of my original Nintendo systems and it irks me that I will not be able to keep the wii downloads on they're respective system.
