Jeopardy! (PC, 1998) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Hasbro and Artech's 1998 game-show adaptation for PCs running Windows 95, Jeopardy!
Played through a single game on the default difficulty settings.
I believe this was the first PC Jeopardy! game to be released after the 1994 Windows 3.1 version. Like it's spiritual predecessor, it's another fantastic adaptation. It's amazing what four years of advances in computer hardware and software did for this version. It looks and sounds pretty convincingly like the show. It's also loaded with brain-busters, so prepare yourself! It's also not very tolerant of spelling mistakes, as you can see by my play here, and while that can make it frustrating at times, it's an overall excellent game.

This looks pretty well done for a game show game. You can see Alex enjoyed recording his parts for this game which is rare. RIP man, I've never actually watched Jeopardy but I always wanted to (it doesn't air in my country)

Hasbro really knew how to leverage the power of the PC to make a great game show adaptation, and Jeopardy! is an excellent example of that. It's amazing how much it hasn't really aged - I much prefer this over the newer games with the ugly CG characters.

i had this on my blueberry ibook circa 2000 and loved it but the mac version never patched a glitch that gave you only five seconds to answer final jeopardy like it was any other round of the game

NintendoComplete Very true! It also plays better than the PS1 version despite having ever so slightly worse FMVs in certain cases (not full screen) and no 3D (2:00, in PS1 these are shown in 3D). Basically worse graphics for a few things, but smoother play Also 23:00 exiting the game is better (I mean, it plays like if it was the actual show’s credits!)

NintendoComplete, you did not read the $1000 Presidential Info clue correctly. The clue states a 20th century president. And the 20th century ranges from 1900 to 1999. But you put in Abraham Lincoln who president from 1861 to 1865 which was in the 19th century.

Makamio Well, they tried to make it not bad. Windows 95 games had games with wildly different varieties of quality, some being shitty console ports, good console ports, and unique games that were best on Windows 95 and inferior on consoles (DOOM + DOOM 2, Quake). It also doesn’t help that Windows 98 was probably about to come out the year this game was made, effectively meaning better hardware.
