Whoever figured out how to play Ridge Racer with the Daytona USA ost deserves a medal
@noone-uw6ui Жыл бұрын
Ridge Racer was small enough to load into memory, you could remove the disc and play the whole game. Since the game was so small the disc contained 6 song tracks in CD format which were read 1-6 depending on your selection. If you put any other CD in it would play songs 1-6 of your choice, probably what was done here. Crazily... If you had a 2nd ps1, TV and link cable you could save £40 on a second copy of the game and boot up the consoles one after the other, removing the disc to use on the other console. Since the disc was never checked again, you could play 2 player link with one disc.

The first time I saw this game in motion was on a Japanese imported PlayStation back in late 1994. The game was shown on an huge 100 inch display in the biggest electronic store in my town. My mind was blown away by the incredible graphics and hysterical and cocky techno soundtrack. I went home and played F-Zero on my Snes, sobbing. Dreaming of getting a PlayStation when it released. 10 months later I was picking up my preordered PS1, I was super hyped. Good times.

I got this game as a hand me down from one of my cousins when I was a teen. I remember liking it, but I absolutely _SUCKED_ at it, always crashing into the walls and never being able to beat the Galaga minigame at the start. Also I didn't realize this game didn't have autosaves, so I ended up losing my progress multiple times (you never realize how much of a luxury autosaves are until they're gone.) But I liked Ridge Racer regardless. Although I never put that much time into it back then. Now though, I'm so much better at the game after actually putting some time into it, and now it's probably one of my favorites on the PSX. I get absolutely obsessed with it whenever I pick it up. Long live Ridge Racer!
