A playthrough of Konami's 1992 beat' em up for the Super Famicom, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.
All in game text has been translated from the original Japanese.
This game has some pretty interesting differences from the US release, the most notable of which is the changes in text. Along with other random changes, all of the bosses now have quotes when they die, as well as then they first appear for a fight. I've translated all of the text in the game - there are a fair number of differences between it and what the original US translation had in it. I hope you enjoy this look at this port from "the other side." Of the Pacific. Not of the time warp.
Thanks to shingodslayer for pointing out a line of dialogue I missed - and sorry for the reupload if you saw the original one with the mistake in it!
Played through on hard with Michaelangelo.

A cousin who passed away a few years ago and I once rented this game and beat it on our first try. We enjoyed the game but felt it went by too fast and was too easy. Fast forward years later, I have a cart only of this, and a boxed Hyperstone Heist, along with the NES trilogy, the first 2 GB titles, and the Genesis, and SNES Tournament Fighters, and I feel quite satisfied with the amount of fun many of these TMNT games provided then, and now. Just a shame he's not here, so we could do another run of this game, and Hyperstone Heist back to back (he never got to play that one sadly).

Try running this game without taking a death or even a hit, and suddenly the game will become really difficult. That's my answer to everything, just raise the standard of gameplay like every single game was meant to be no hit and suddenly you have your challenge.

When Konami finally lost the license to TMNT after Mutant Nightmare broke my heart, and Ubisoft acquired the rights, then later Nickelodeon. But Cowabunga Collection had Digital Eclipse & Konami team up.

There are a fair number of differences between the US and the Japanese versions, so I thought it'd be fun to translate the original, unaltered Japanese game. Hope you find watching it as interesting as I did to make it!

@@CarlosAugusto-ht6jt Every boss has outtro text, not just Shredder in Technodrome - Let's Kick Shell and Krang in Neon Night Riders. Also most of the dialogue is quite different. The title screen has a different graphic for "Turtles in Time" and it is displayed on the screen differently. The color mode is also Manga/Anime instead of Comic/Cartoon. You can smack Rahzar around after he reverts to a wolf and he wimpers. Shredder doesn't laugh when he appears on all the monitors in the Technodrome, unless the sound was just overridden by the super spin item being in effect. That's what I noticed.

It’s interesting to see that there originally was dialogue before the boss explodes in the Japanese version. It does explain why there would be a pause before an explosion in the English version for some bosses.

Glad we’re getting this and Tournament Fighters in The Cowabunga Collection. I was hoping they’d add them to the Online service for the Switch but this is even better. Although this version may have lacked/changed a few things from the arcade I appreciate the effort in porting it. I mean in “Skull and Crossbones”, the water and ship are animated here unlike the arcade version. I also noticed that it borrowed a few elements from the first arcade game, like the design of the Technodrome stage and the Roadkill Rodneys.

Okay. I've gotta ask. Does anyone else ever remember when throwing them, the foot soldiers smacking into the screen for a moment, before sliding off it? Sometimes the screen would "crack," but not every time. I have this strong memory, but it doesn't seem to be in the game anymore. Now they just disappear instantly. Also, when some of them flip over, upside-down and backwards, it looks very foreign to me. Possible mandela effect? This game offers some residual evidence of mandela effect for the Statue of Liberty being on Ellis Island as well. Look at the pedestal. That's what it looked like on Ellis Island. It doesn't look like that at all now on Liberty Island.

SykosymatiK For the cracked glass, are you thinking about the Shredder battle at the end of the Technodrome stage? Or are you thinking of stuff from the arcade version that was left out of the SNES game? Or maybe it's a difference between versions, since this vid is of the Japanese one? Your description also reminds me of the first boss in Battletoads, if that's of any use at all.
@Lost_n_Found_1

NintendoComplete It was 100% Turtles in Time. I have a strong bond with all things TMNT. I wouldn't have posted anything without checking all versions. I have no doubt that the foot soldiers would smack face first into the screen, it would happen anytime you threw them towards the screen, and for comedic effect, they would slide down the entire screen. It was coded to have the crack effect randomly, seemingly. I remember looking forward to it, and wondering if there were something I could do to make them crack the screen every time. However, it simply doesn't seem to exist at all in any version I'm aware of. So odd.

Pretty cool playthrough of the Japanese version of the game! The Hyperstone Heist on the other hand, had post-battle boss quotes when it got localized. And just of curiosity... You seem to understand the quotes in Japanese. Are you fluent, or do you get your sources from elsewhere?

NintendoComplete Dead of the Brain 1 & 2 are visual novel games that originally were on the PC-98, FM Towns and Sharp X68000. If Snatcher was to Blade Runner, Dead of the Brain 1 & 2 are to the George Romero zombie films. Although the second title had more streamlined gameplay. Just between the two of us, I completed a playthrough of the PC-98 ver. of the first game The two games were released into a compilation package that was the last commercial game for the PC Engine in Japan... in 1999, no less!. How best to put it... Am I being a bit too nitpicky with the part where you said were rusty with the Japanese language?
