Was _immediately_ blown away by this game's presentation alone. The visuals in the opening sequence appear almost like most PC games at the time. The dreary aesthetic and phenomenal soundtrack go hand to hand with the "Karateka"-esque gameplay. Lastly, the character animation is surprisingly smooth.
@windego99918 күн бұрын
One thing I will say is that the soundtrack for the game is really good. I do love how subtle the changes to the bad game over screen are too. You also gotta love how Nosferatu gets beaten by kung fu moves and not holy whips and crosses lol

You're not the only one who gets amazed by the Nosferatu protagonist. I think the Holy Water and Cross stuff would still be good to have around, if only to sanitize and clean up the mess involved with the baddies being undead at all. But fighting them unarmed? Priceless.

Disturbing fact about this game. If you die 7 or 8 times, pay close attention to the girl in the photo. She has fangs now, for she was bitten by Nosferatu offscreen due to the player's many failed attempts. Because of that, you are locked to the bad ending, and the only way to not get it is to quit and try again. And if you quit, it just says Game Over for the girl was already bitten.

This is another one of those games I saw in Nintendo Power and was really hoping would show up on my local rental stores new release shelf. I could tell just by looking at it it was like Prince of Persia which I loved and finally the day came. It's a little disappointing that it focuses more on combat than puzzle solving and would be an all time classic of a hidden gem if only it were just a little bit better.

So, this game is basically _Castlevania_ meets _Prince of Persia_ . Well, that's an unusual combination to me, but after seeing your playthrough, it definitely works. Also, for a Super NES game released during the early days of the ESRB and given a K-A rating (the precursor to the E rating), the violence is pretty graphic. I would like to add that the mere idea of a lone hero taking out supernatural abominations with martial-arts skills instead of weapons with or without supernatural powers needs to be done more often in video games. XD By the way, one of the staff members behind the game is one K. Igarashi. Could that possibly be Koji "Iga" Igarashi!?

Nosferatu (ノスフェラトゥ) is a horror-themed action platform game developed and published by SETA Corporation for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It was released in Japan on October 7, 1994, and in North America in October 1995. The player controls a young man known as Kyle, who rides to the vampire Nosferatu's castle in order to defeat him and save his beloved girlfriend Errin from his clutches.

Wait so the vampire hunter just punches and kicks kung fu style?
@darkerfalcon374714 күн бұрын
Seven deaths? Acutally to get the cursed continue screen you have to die eight times, because in the Japanese version you have a limit of 9 continues (8 normal and the last cursed one that locks you to the bad ending). While in the US version, despite you have unlimited continues, the rule is the same except that despite you're locked to the bad ending, you can still continue after you die. While in the JP version dying the tenth time means Game Over! God! The game over screen is extremely creepy, just like some of the Neo-Geo games, Ninja Gaiden (Arcade game) and Super Darius II ones.
