The special gimmick for this game was that you could insert a CD and it would generate a track for you to play along to. In order to be able to have the game running and access the CD, the data had to be stored in the PlayStation's RAM. Because the RAM was so small, they had to use simple lines for graphics to save space. It's a very interesting history and it makes me really respect this game because it still kept its charm and personality even with the minimalist visuals.

If this game had been released in recent years - probably around late 2010s - it would be one of the top games today. This game looks so far ahead of its time. Graphically this is something what we see from 2000s Flash games.
@DavideGendo7 жыл бұрын
I heard a lot of good things about this game at the time of release, so I honestly thought it enjoyed more popularity and distribution - only now I learn it didn't even get an US release. Looking at videos made with various songs, it looks it is not unfortunately able to generate good levels with any track, but it's still nice to see it has virtually endless replayability because of that function. The main soundtrack is trippy. I've heard some of the tracks over the years without knowing from where they were.

Vib-Ribbon was a great rhythm game for the PlayStation. The game's music was composed by Laugh & Peace, which Masaya Matsuura mentioned during the creation of the game. The first two rounds use the songs Polaroid and Sunny Day, the silver medal rounds use the songs Laugh & Peace and Universal Dance, and the gold medal's rounds have the songs Overflowing Emotions and Roll Along.

Gotta love the music in this game. It's some of my favourite stuff. Also, there was an unused track for the game called Rainbow found in the files. Someone made a video compiling all of the music, you can listen to it there.
