This is one of the few examples of a port on the NES being better than the Master System port. Typically it is the other way around. The sound can be a little painful. I can saw this one had a superior color scheme like most Master System games. It also can play two player like the arcade which is a place it really shines. The NES Ghostbusters vs the MS Ghostbusters is a great example how much higher quality MS ports tended to be.

Long before Arc System Works was known as that company who made "Guilty Gear Strive" and weirdly inserted some product placement of said game in the recent "Onimai" anime... They made a _decent_ conversion of the original arcade "Double Dragon." The NES version may have better combat and a better soundtrack, but the Master System version is the easily the better _looking_ game and the Japanese version's FM music utterly trumps the PSG soundtrack here. The stiff character animations and difficulty due to the faulty controls keep it from being the best port. Still a solid enough game through and through.

Back in the day, many young people thought Sega Genesis was inferior to NES. Not until they saw the graphics and heard the sound effects & music, they realized they had been fooled. This is just NES 2.0 or even worse. But to this day, I'm still a NES child. :) It was the SUPER Nintendo that they really wanted, not Sega. Again, they were fooled the second time when the SN did not last a lot quicker than the original.
