This game had a killer soundtrack, and with as much fun as I've been having with NES music lately, I thought I'd offer up this little piece of orchestra hit-laden 8-bit tuneage 😀

I don't know about you NC, but I will always associate TMNT II on NES with two other media masterpieces that came out at the same time: Mega Man 3 and Home Alone (the movie). The 1990 Christmas season was amazing for young gamers/movie fans. I also remember not being able to buy those games for months because they were sold out everywhere. Anyways, thought I'd see if anyone agrees with me.

I really loved the NES versions of these songs, and it's fun to hear the arcade versions in NES format. I hope to come across arcade music versions of the NES sewer, snow and shogun levels one day.

Thanks! Yeah, I was a bit surprised at first over how easily simple square waves can blend with way more complicated waveforms.

If you feel like it, a Contra III soundtrack on the NES hardware would be interesting. I always thought that a port of the SNES game could had been done very well on the older system, using the Super C engine.

Now I could figure how the third stage track could've sounded (sort of) if it was kept for the NES soundtrack.

It was one of my favorite tracks in the arcade game. I'm not surprised that they didn't use it on the NES, though. Its layering of sounds is quite a bit more complex than what's in the other tracks. Those harmonies would've been shredded being limited to two squares and a triangle.
