TBH, the only Sonic game that comes to mind is Sonic Unleashed, but the problem is that the game is half great and half... meh? I think a remake would fix the issues by slowing down the daytime stages and speeding up the nighttime stages. (And also having an option to turn off the battle music interrupting the stage music. Star Fox Zero is really great, people totally need to actually give it a proper shot and learn to play it! The controls are only a little confusing at first because it's an experience so unlike anything else- it's more like when someone tries gaming itself for the first time and isn't instantly incredible at it just because it's new to them, instead of it actually being the controls at fault. People seriously need to give it a chance, I've been saying it for years!

I can understand why the devs where told to scale back Link's Crossbow training. Miyamoto was told to make a extremely low budget game reusing TP assets as it was Nintendo's most Nintendo poured into a single game's development cost at the time. It would've completely defeated the purpose if they ended up giving it a completely cycle when they had less time and money given than even MM had.

I've been saying Duke Nukem Forever wasn't terrible for years. Yes it had some dated design concepts, but it also had things you just don't see in modern fps's anymore. It was a gawdy blast from the past thumbing its nose at everyone right in the middle of the golden era of the military shooter.
@Vi-ob1yu3 жыл бұрын
There's a lot going on with Duke Nukem Forever's reputation that goes beyond the game itself. It was advertised as a "return to 90's style shooters", but then pointlessly ditched some of those games' best mechanics (like being able to have a lot of guns at once) last minuet before release, to the intense ire of people whom were basically lied to. That very reasonably pissed some people (like me) off, as I can't stand games like Halo and CoD over their gun mechanics. Can't really say it "thumbed it's nose" at military shooters when it adopted both their limited gun holding mechanics, level structure, and regenerating health system. Feels more like a shittier version of Halo than the 90's shooter we were promised. If the game isn't "that bad", it still deserves the hate it gets and more for it's lack of a coherent design philosophy.

One of my favourite games which didn't review great was Dragon Quest Swords on the Wii, getting a 65 on Metacritic. Absolutely agree on star fox zero. I'd also like to add that for the avid haters of motion controls, you don't actually need to get used to the cockpit view controls for 99% of the game. If you really hate it, you can set gyro in the settings to only activate when you hold the fire button. This basically makes the ship sections controls nearly identically to old starfox games. The reticle moves just like the old games during movement so you just tap zr to fire and hold for charge, As long as you don't flail your arms around while holding the charge, it controls basically the same.

The Smurfs on PAL NES is a great game like that. Its basically shunned as an easy, not good looking and weirdly made port of an not-too-well-known branded game on the SNES/MD/Sega CD. But it has really good, colorful and clean graphics for an NES game and a very fluid and big animated character sprite, without much flickering at all. I also love me some Evolution Worlds. Many dislike it, because it compresses two Dreamcast-RPGs, that aren't THAT HOT looking on the Dreamcast either, into one single game. And yes, it is mostly unattractive to look at. But I still like that row-based battle system, dungeon crawling and finding secrets and new gagdets I never found before.

When I was in high school, Agetec/A1 games started putting out budget games from the Simple & SuperLite 1500 series for the original PlayStation. EGM was unkind to them, to say the least. However, one of the games that was pretty good that they also dismissed as garbage was Shooter: Starfighter Sanvein. They basically poked fun at the graphics (it wasn't a Dreamcast game), but they completely glossed over the very unique strategic gameplay for an arcade shoot em up/STG. While EGM was dismissive about it, a lot of classic shooting fans who are also PlayStation fans know the game is a bit of an underrated nugget. Some ebay sellers still sell the game brand new at the same $10 budget mark that it was when it was first released over 20 years ago.

I didn’t even know that Soul Calibur game exists, I literally mained Siegfried and Nightmare and always wanted a solo game for him! Also, glad to see some respect dropped on Starfox Zero. It’s a pretty great title, and I thought the motion controls worked well!

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO LIKED STAR FOX ZERO!!!! I rented that and one my friends came over and we loved the multiplayer with the Gyrowing and trolling each other with the little drone. So fun.

THANK YOU! I've always thought the exact same about Star Fox Zero- I feel like it's honestly the game that makes the absolute best use of the Wii U hardware, and people (particularly reviewers) just weren't patient enough to actually learn how to play properly- it's a truly excellent game that will ABSOLUTELY get a cult following in time when people finally realise- mark my words.

I just found my copy of link's crossbow training the other day, so it's funny that I see it here as well. I honestly can't even remember ever playing it, though.

Great Video, I remember having a lot of fun with Duke Nukem Forever, together with my mom. Yes we are both girls ;) I loved the over the top humor. I would love to see a Part 2 of this vid

My nephew and I love Link's Crossbow Training, but the absolute worst thing about it is that it crashes your wii atleast 80% of the time you try to load it. I forget exactly why it does this, but its a great game once you get it working. I always worry its going to brick my Wii or something every time I try to play.
