With the names of the past forms, I always interpreted the meaning of their names being like how early humans would call creatures like this during a time when proper naming and categorization of species wasn't invented yet. Kinda like how in Land Before Time, the dinosaurs all call each other by nicknames based on their physical appearance rather than their species name, like Long Necks, Three Horns, Fliers and Sharp Teeth and such. Same sorta thing here, and it made the past forms all the more fascinating to me. With the future forms though, as much as I like them, there's something about them that makes them seem kinda depressing (in a deep, slightly horrific way), and it stems from when you think about exactly what they are in relation to their names. Unlike the past forms names that come from a basic understanding of what a new creature looks like, the names of the future forms give off the idea that, in the distant future, Pokemon are seen as little more than utilities to be used rather than their own beings, so much so that they've been retrofitted into being literal robots, forever ensuring that they'd be seen as and referred to as nothing more than tools or weapons. It's the kind of future that N in Black and White would've feared that Pokemon would become had he and pre-twist Team Plasma not stepped in.

One thing to note is that Iron Valiant is actually supposed to be a mixture of both gardevoir and gallade. The blades are gallades but the hairband dress are gardevoirs. It also got rid of the psychic typing, but kept the 2 types that differentiated the 2, being fighting and fairy. And instead of being able to learn play rough, it keeps a high Special Attack and learns moonblast, a move gardevoir is known to have

Magikarp was one of the first pokemons to cite the past in its pokedex, its entry in fire red says, "In the distant past, it was a little stronger than the horribly weak descendants that exist today." That description alone makes me think of a high probability that we will have a magikarp paradox in the future. After all, we know how much nintendo loves kanto (read money through nostalgia).

@@primecreator5257 Things aren't the best because they are iconic, that's literally what nostalgia bait is. Getting money by using things that are iconic. And other than being iconic, Gen 1 doesn't really have anything going for it. Sure, it has good designs, but most of them are middling at best and all the games have at least a few gems. The actual games suck, which isn't their fault, they're just old. And being the original, it's not like they introduced anything new. In fact, gen 1 probably has the most different systems as compared to any other generation than any other game. No items, abilities, special stat split, physical special split, no dark steel or fairy, no box art legendaries, etc.

The way both the Prehistoric and Futuristic Paradox Pokémon have comparatively slower battle stance animations paints them both in a different light from modern contemporary Pokémon: the prehistoric ones having slower stances makes them look like vicious beasts just waiting for the chance to pounce and maul you to death, and the futuristic ones having slower stances makes them look like cold and calculating killing machines.

I noticed that the cries of Paradox Pokemon are almost identical to the original, with the addition of a certain sound effect starting at the middle of the default cry (horns for ancient Pokemon, wooden clack noises for future Pokemon) Also, the idle animations of Paradox Pokemon move a lot less than their present-day counterparts.

I think the past has my vote but the fact that we now have what are basically cybernetic infused pocket monsters is still pretty dang cool! I overall like the past forms better than the future ones. The past versions seem like more savage versions of existing Pokemon and you can kinda see how they might've developed into what they eventually became. How their survival strategies evolved and changed as time went on. Slither Wing and Sandy Shocks gaining flight, Roaring Moon gaining more usable limbs, Scream Tail adapting its screaming to singing, etc. The future forms however are all just robot versions of existing pokemon with no real new adaptions or traits beyond being metallic, and they aren't even steel type! They look less like the pokemon adapted and changed survival strategies and more like someone built robot versions based on existing Pokemon who didn't change at all in the far future. The exception being Iron Valiant who, by merging traits of Gardevoir and Gallade along with their mega forms at least looks like it diverged from the present day versions beyond just "being a robot". Iron Thorns looks pretty cool. Though for some reason I find Iron Treads to just be disturbing to look at, same for Iron Bundle's detachable head. Are we absolutely sure Turo didn't miscalculate and just start stealing robots from a pokemon version of Eggman a few decades in the future?

Iron bundle has skees for feet and propels itself with a fucking rocket… Iron Treads literally rotates its “trunk” like an independent wheel… Having more unique silhouettes is ironically much less functionally distinct at this level…but because it’s also more overt, everybody overlooks the rest.

I actually have a theory that the Pokémon are from a future where another giant Pokémon war happened, leaving the world in a desert-like hellscape. The remaining humans fled underground, nearly all Pokémon went extinct except for a few. Using the few pokemons dna (because of how many Pokémon there are, a few is like 150) they made new Pokémon to help them get good and search, they had to make Pokémon nearly entirely robot so 1: they wouldn’t die, atleast not for centurys and 2: so they could survive the harsh weather. They also needed to put cameras in them so they could see what was outside. Iron treads rolls on its trunk thing to get across the landscape easily, iron valiant is used to sample stuff from the outside world and also to take down and get dna from any Pokémon that could’ve survived up there so they could make improved forms. Nah if anything I think the future paradoxes are far more interesting in an existential dread sort of way. The implication that something happened in the future to cause all organic Pokémon to be converted into machines, either machines mimicking Pokémon or the Pokémon having to be transformed entirely into iron constructs. Maybe Pokémon went extinct entirely in the future and mankind tried to revive them with technology in the only way they knew how. Yet these machines are functionally exactly the same as Pokémon, they have types, movesets, and even still retain personalities. It’s really interesting in a bleak distant dystopian future sort of way

Every Past Paradox has a deep hum accompanied by the sound of clattering sticks. Every Future Paradox has a guttural groaning interlaced with clinking gears. Koraidon and Miraidon instead take it a step further with a heavy drum beat and high-pitched whirring respectively, perhaps demonstrating their status as "advanced", or "Major Legendary" Paradoxes in comparison to their rest of their brethren. These end of cry sound effects also double as yet another parallel to the Ultra Beasts, including Cosmog's Line and Necrozma, all of whom had a deep metallic ringing at the end of their cries. Loving this concept of otherworldly or "extroverse" Pokémon groups entering the normal world and finding new lives there alongside the Protagonists. Hope there will be more Ultra Beasts and Paradoxes in the future. Great video!

I really like both forms however when it comes to shinies, Scarlet nails it. I know Violet is more futuristic and has more of the bland-still designs, however the shinies just makes it more robotic-y than anything else, though it sells on its future and robotic look, it fails at being as cool shinies. Especially with Miraidon, changing its cool and slick purple to a though cool silver, makes it look honestly bland like the others, the only exception for me is Future Volcarona and Tyranitar, but that is it. With Scarlet, It really brings more vibrant colors, and shows that its different but the same in a way as referencing of course the past, and Kiraidon has honestly the best shiny in existence. The charcoal black and white with the hint of fire really brings out how cool it is, especially with Salamence and Jigglypuff, its exceptional and honestly really brings out emotions on a Pokemon. Don't get me wrong, Both forms are amazing, I just wish Violet had more vibrant colors on their shinies instead of being just, "yeah its a robot." it makes their original shinies look like a joke.

I love the Iron Valiant the most out of all of them! This Gardevoir Gallade fusion is by far the best for me! The mixed typings of the two, Fairy and Fighting is just a cool detail, and what would be better for the Gardevoir Gallade fans is if they'd catch one with a Psychic Tera. It's a really sick design genuinely. I love it!

Scarlet and violet seemed to really want to try to be a better version of sun and moon. The new Quartet essentially being the Tapus, the Paradox mon being the Ultra Beasts, hell we even have new types of regional forms that are their own Pokémon in convergent forms (stuff like Wiglett). Not to mention event the new point of the legendary is to “power it up” kinda like how you had to “power up Nebby to evolve” in the sun and moon story.

I think it's very interesting that a lot of the past forms are fighting type, they could have easily gone the lazy route and just made most of them rock/ground types. Same for the future forms and not just making every one steel

I was surprised that I actually like the future forms overall better than the past forms. I typically like prehistoric stuff more than I do futuristic stuff, but man do I love the future forms' designs, their head honchos (Miraidon and Iron Valiant), the fact that even though all of them are robotic not all of them are part steel or part electric, and quark drive (I already have a sun team, so getting electric terrain some better viability to me was more fun.) I still really like the past forms though.
