It’s moments like these that make you think about how in most Mario games, especially outside of the RPGs, there’s no one, not in the Mushroom Kingdom and not in Bowser’s army, who’s close to Junior’s age and/or treats him as normal and not as a prince or an enemy. I legit enjoy how the Mario & Luigi series has been giving Bowser and his boys more screentime and character growth, especially in Junior's case. I also love how they're keeping continuity by referencing events from past games. I know people will always love the simple Mario platformers, but this to me is peak Mario.

I'm pretty sure Bowser never had a true friend when he was Junior's age, so that's why he became evil since a young age (we can see how rude young prince Bowser is in "Partners in Time" compared to Junior), unlike his son, who has been through different life experiences, like learning about trust and loyalty from his minions and now his true friendship with Buddy. Maybe he'll grow to become a way better king than his father.
