NIO ES8 EV Test Drive - Is NIO the next TESLA? See For Yourself!

I test drove the NIO ES8 in Shenzhen, China. There has been a lot of talk about NIO in recent days, especially with regards to its stock price, which has been on a solid run up this year. I decided to take a look and see what the NIO is all about.
A lot of people online, Reddit especially, compare NIO to Luckin Coffee. Luckin had a big run before it crashed hard due to some fudging of their numbers. Luckin, if you had asked anybody in China, you'd probably have heard that the main reason they had any customers was because they were mostly giving away their coffee for practically nothing. It's not a well liked or respected brand, they were after growth above all else. Once the crazy coupons went away people went back to Starbucks, Luckin Coffee are mostly empty. I wanted to see if NIO was gonna be something similar, IE a "fake" product that wouldn't sell without some tricky business practices.
After checking out the car, I can safely say that it is at least a genuine product and even seems to be quite good in its own right. The battery swap idea is pretty cool, as long as they get the infrastructure built up to support it.
The car seems fun to drive, with all the tech bells and whistles you'd expect from a modern car. Let me know what you think of NIO the car or the company/stock in the comments below.

@@toddluther6641 Except batter swapping is better than building the infrastructure for individual chargers. Not to mention if you live in an apartment how do you charge your Tesla. If you're on the road how do you charge your Tesla. Oh then you have stand around waiting for your battery to charge. With the BaaS (batteries as a service) that solves the problem. You ask you dash mounted AI where the nearest battery station is it will then reserve the battery for you. You arrive pull in and three minutes later viola your ready to go. About as much time as it takes to fill your tank. This is the problem with America, we don't innovate anymore, we don't do things like Nio. Because we don't value an education in this country, so we don't have the smarts to or the innovative skills. That's because corporations want to take all their profits and buy back their own stock or give it away in higher and higher dividends. Corporations don't retain and invest as business strategy anymore....

A lot of KZbin /investor channels who cover Nio, Xpeng, Li, etc. but no solid content. Just bs charts, and regurgitation of common thoughts. So far you’re the only one who has access to the real thing. Keep up the good work and you will see your subscribers shoot up! I invested on Nio stocks since it was at $14. Thank you for sharing your experience with Nio and your thoughts about Nio cars. I live in Canada so I don't have a chance to test drive but I highly admire their battery swap technology, which I envisioned about and I thought if there were EV car that has automatic battery swap technology, It would be something new to the industry. I respect Tesla but the interior doesn't look good as much as Nio or Xpeng and there has been many flaws from the hardware. So I do see that Nio can compete against Tesla. It's good to hear that Nio has very good driving comfort. That gave me much confidence holding Nio for long term investment!

The one thing I've immediately noticed on all the NIO videos I've seen, is the build quality compared to Tesla. All the body panels are correctly aligned with uniform gaps, looks well put together.

@@hodlcro4dlife661 i don’t have Nio hut I watched a lot of videos in the last year about NIO. Basically, NIO has build some battery station along the high way between the big cities, it is still not as convenient as gas car yet as some of them are located in the city nearby instead of rest station, but there is a solution if you want to drive a long way. Another strength of NIO is the service, if you want to drive somewhere with no battery station near buy or no plug in charger , they will drive their power supply car to support you even it is hours driving to your place.

The good thing about NIO is that they're funded by the government so they can have a long term strategy. Seeing more and more of those in Shenzhen, although Tesla model 3 is by far the most popular electric car over here at the moment.

My mandarin isn't perfect, but i think the 'Nomi' is saying that auto-pilot has been deactivated because the driver did not have his hands on the steering wheel. Remember, auto-pilot will only work if your hands are on the steering wheel.

The reason I persuaded my parents to buy Nio instead of Tesla is BS Nio has traditional displays in front of the driver and HUD, while Tesla model 3/Y only have the display on the middle, which can be so distractive and dangerous when you want to see some information while driving.

If NIO does not play the rebellious games that Tesla does in terms of manufacturing and dealership presence, they will be big in the global market. They should form a partnership with a known American company for NA markets to institute NA sales. Ford is primed with lack luster sales in its car lines.

Wow! I noticed a big improvement on the interior based on older youtube interior reviews. NIO is moving in all the right directions and the Chinese will be proud of it. They will have a huge piece of the pie of market share in the massive country of China. China is bullish on EVs. Not good that the autopilot is not good in traffic. Hoping that gets better.
