Her Sons and Daughters clearly weren't that smart and brave. If not one of her Sons, at least one of her daughters should have take heart and club down her clearly insane mother. The Child will be cursed and hunted by the furies but at least the others have a chance to survive.

Funny enough, Niobe actually retold the entire event by Ovid's retelling, so she basically said, "Look a what Leto went through, aren't I so much better than her?"

A recurring theme in Greek mythology especially is the dangers of pride. When we let pride become the all-encompassing emotion, it always leads to a painful downfall. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your work or in someone like your children. However, when you let pride be the driving force of everything, it quickly makes enemies. A very wise man said, "Pride is more concerned with WHO is right. Humility is more concerned with WHAT is right."

So much for the rule of 'No killing family members'. Still, Niobe was asking for trouble, I wonder which section of the Underworld her kids went to.

Technically, that isn't the whole myth and there are a couple different versions. Niobe was ultimately turned into a pillar of salt if I remember correctly, but only after her hubris caused her to speak the boast that sealed her fate

It's not about being proud with Niobe anymore, it's about being overly cocky and arrogant I mean interrupting a ceremony for a goddess just to boast your ego? That's just rude and disrespectful

Niobe decided to take it up a notch by comparing her to Leto by saying that she had fourteen kids while Leto only had two so who's the 'real' goddess. Well apparently Leto because the moment she heard that she called up the twins who came and killed all her kids.
