Nioh Heavy Storm Build (1.09-1.13): The Best Ninja Build!

I was floundering around at level 99 when I ran into your video. Now I'm at level 225 in NG+ kicking ass with a variation of this build. I see now that Nioh is similar to Magic The Gathering, with Nioh builds being the equivalent designed Magic decks. Your videos have been a real eye-opener. THANKS!!

Just curious. Did you forge the Kusa or was it a drop? I've been trying to forge forever and can only get 5 affixes whereas yours has 6. Tried different combinations of divines too. Super vids!

you need some luck to get a 6 affixes iga kusa. first, you need get the iga kusa without any inheritable affix, it should have 5 affixes. then you inherit the 6th affix to it =)

Was curious why the heavy investment in DFB? In quite a few fights the damage from up front is crazy enough. I run a ninja build with a full Iga set for the extra ninjutsu damage and cat/rabit as spirits, and was wondering if your armor/guardian setup would do more damage under normal circumstances too, or only from behind. i think even the front damage output is superior than the traditional iga full set build. I trade off 100+ ninjutsu power (around 15% damage) with weight damage boost (haven't calculate yet but pretty sure it is more than 15%). and besides, the advantage of this new build is very high damage output from behind and relatively high defence and damage reduction. i focus on damage from behind is because this affix seems multiplying other than adding up, which is crazy. Okay so if i get it correctly. Guardian spirit agility bonus and ranged weapon / armour (set ) bonuses do actually increase the damage of throwing weapons? (also i saw your video on the hidden 40% weapon damage....that is just crazy ) Cause i am just using 3 iga and 4 kingo's but thanks to this video that just seems the tip of the iceberg.

guardian spirit agility bonus does affect thrown weapon damage. ranged weapon and armour set bonus it depends on which bonus ofc =)

Any tips for a pretty new player? I just completed the main game in NG, started NG+ (and DLC as well) and I want to get this build started. Where should I start, how do I find the gear and weapons? I have not really gotten into forge/reforge stuff at all as I did not need it during my playthrough, so any tips or guides for those would be great. I have searched online but can't find anything super coherent. Great build, great video. Sorry for so many questions, and thanks in advance!

if you just arrived at NG+, i suggest you start with this build (kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6mrn35udsdggLs) first. This build does not require yasakani magatama and is pretty easy to get the equipment (by farm hanzo in dojo mission). When you get further and get the yasakani magatama, you can start with this build. also, go to lv160 the death of bandit to farm some revenants for the x2 gloves. You may need them =)

yes, farm the whole divine iga set (7 pieces) and you are good to go. it is not that important to inherit unlimited ninjutsu affix to head/pants/boots anymore, if you have it on body/gloves/2 charms and bring the bat spirit. you can gradually collect the gloves with inheritable 'thrown weapon damage' / 'thrown weapon damage x2' / 'shuriken n kunai damage' affixes and inherit them to your armors.

Mine build is like this except the kingo set, i like the igo jonin set. For the ninjutsu AA and the agility A. This build is so freaking awesome, i kill like 70% of the enemies with my sword and the 30% (the scary enemies) with my kunai and shuriken. It all scales really nice into late game 🤗 i just love it. Also with the completion of the titles, without getting hit; i wreck it all. Right now i almost cleared way of the wise and i love to see this build in way of the nioh! 👍

at lv255 you pretty much cap your damage of this build, that's why i choose to use it in the video. but ofc you can further level up and get more defensive status. the damage will not change too much though =)

Did you farm for your amrita? I see so many high lvl characters, but there's no way to efficiently farm if you aren't already over lvl 200.

aquCHAOS 1st Off,awesome posts from you,i subbed a couple of days back.I am trying sooo hard to replicate this build.I have farmed the neccessary weopons and armor so thats ok.My biggest problem is trying to soul match the inherited skills to make this build work as you have done.My main problems are trying to find the consecutive attack A skill,i have been farming for 2 days solid and have not yet found this,sure i've found the C Attack but not the A (Bummer).Can you advise me if i am missing something here or am i doing something wrong.?.Also having problems with finding thrown weopons damage x2 on the head, and weight damage A.Is it just a question of reforging non stop or something else.Sorry to trouble you with this but would appreciate your advise.Keep up the great work.Many thanks :-)

for specific affixes, reforging is always faster than farming (if you have enough material and willing to S/L a bit). Be aware the rule of reforging, certain affixes are conflict with each other, you can check wiki for the details. For inheritable affixes, you can try to forge cheap divine items until the correct affix appears together with inheritable icons. (similar principle I did here kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqKvkqyYpLSrmJI) btw, you can never get thrown weapon damage x2 on head, body armor, pants or boots. You can only inherit it from the gloves. my knowledge about forging is based on version 1.13, i heard that blacksmith got some modification/improvements in recent update, haven't got time to check that yet =)

This is really fun and strong build! Unfortunately, you have to collect lots of pieces and fragments to reforge the best effects, like 22% damage from behind. Once you obtain them, I'm sure you'll be able to deal more damage than now. The Yasakani Magatama can have a thrown weapon ability, too, but you'll have to be VERY lucky to drop one, literally. For example, mine has thrown weapon damage +17,5%. In your case, a x2 ability would be very handy to boost your chances to deal 2x damage. I have the very same build, hoping to reach 22,8-22,9 with every single piece, some of them are 1% lower than they should be. :'D PS: your Prayer Beads are so badass with those 2 thrown abilities! xD

yes indeed, a lot of affixes can still be improved but would be pain in the ass if you want to optimise them x( so envy your 17.5% thrown damage yasakani. got one recently but is only for thrown ki damage =/

Does the ninjitsu bonus on ranged have to b in ur primary slot to work? Ive read elseware some bonuses like agility dosen't work if not?

you need put the ranged weapon to the primary slot so its affixes take effect on you. there was a bug let you get benefits even if it is on secondary slot but this was fixed in 1.10.

The DFB from the Iga Kusarigama, did you reforged til you got or it's original ? And if you did reforge, did you used divine fragment or normal ?

bunny and iga does provide damage to ninjutsu. but they are not the only option, you can get as much damage from other source. you can still take bunny as main spirit for this build and get even more damage from front side btw. i choose bat mainly for its unlimited ninjutsu other than its damage. i did hear about the 30.1 weight modification, not tested yet though. based on my personal experience in 1.10 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpndk2hnl7-hh9k), i think the 30.1 weight modification is just an adjustment other than nerf.

Those three are my fav weapons in the game even that I have a build for each one using no other type of weapon. Have you tested Kojuro Armor 3 piece 56% defense perk against enemies on ranged weapons? I meant the perk lowers enemy defense by 56% against ranged weapons.

Another reason can be for the damage difference if the order of applying effects is not fix but depends somehow on the appearenace on equipment. Obviously applying first double damage then adding flat damage is less than vice versa. If this is the case, it is a bug going to be fixed, probably to the less damage order.

both melee and ranged attack skill does not affect the kunai damage so it does not matter that much. if you use melee weapon more, assign it to melee, otherwise ranged =)

I did almost everything the same but my projectile dmg can't go up from 4K. am I doing something wrong. only one thing I couldn't get ninjutsu dmg bonus A on ranged weapon. it always rolls C+. should I use agility bonus A on ranged wep? and my ninutsu power doesn't go up from 636. all these things nerfed in the last patch? actually i do not have too much experience on less armour affix. should test it out someday xD if it give you a good damage bonus, your suggestion should be valid. but considering you will also miss 1 or more inheritable thrown damage x2, it may not worth =/ consecutive attack bonus if a quite huge bonus so i will not sacrifice that and tatenashi is one of the most heavy armor set it sync well with its weight set bonus =)

Yeah got my answer after some testing XD rolled it for S.Kunai dmg in 40 odd tries. My Ninjutsu power is sitting at 626 atm. Doing 17k odd per back hit for S.Kunai. Can't seem to get it higher. Does the equip's +X help damage wise? Mine are all pretty low.

Looks like ninjutsu took a hit in 1.10. Shuriken, Kunai, and Storm Shuriken were nerfed across the board. Looks like Quick Change might've been nerfed as well, but I'm not sure if I'm reading that right (patch notes aren't translated yet). I literally just started making this build a few hours ago, so I guess it's a good thing I didn't get too far in it. Would've been fun to mess around with it, though, since I love being a ninja.

Thanks! Yeah, initial reports seem to be that the effectiveness only dropped, like, 10% or so for PvE, but dropped massively for PvP, which is fine by me. Time to go get my ninja on.

it is a tough item to get is you are just arrived at NG+. The best way to get it is to grind at the 4th region asap and farm the trail of the master mission for the corpse (there are a lot of videos teaching you how). You can also use the way i mention here (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaLXn4atn86eZs0) to farm yasakani, but it is less efficient if you ONLY want to farm yasakani. btw, you get tons of yasakani in later game xD.

@aquCHAOS, can you update the build with the latest patch?! Now that we can go up to lvl 500, what can we do about the weight problem cause if we put points in Hearth/STR we ruin the build. I have 69.5% weight and 30.9/44.4 for both dmg bonuses.

add more points to heart/strength shall not ruin the build. as long as you have more than 30.1 weithg, you get the full bonus from weight damage bonus affix. and agility bonus keeps the same unless your agility reaches A, which gives you even more power. however, i did the test before, with both 99 heart and strength, you cannot reach agility A with this build =3

I decided to go with extra Spirit cause I have more builds and also living weapon builds. xD I got it to 70. So 99 dex/body/skill and 70 Spirit. But now it costs me 1.000.000.000 Amrita for 1 level point :))) I didn't want to put points into hearth/str cause I saw that my equipment weight would go under 68% and I thought that I will disable the weight dmg buff. I have 55 heart so I guess that i'll go with STR. Stamina is at 29 and STR at 16. should't I put some points in those two instead of Heart?! I could get stamina to 50 and str to 40 for a max of 500 levels.

in your PS4 main menu, go to the Nioh game icon and press down arrow, you should find an option named 'playstation store', go there and check if the dlc is installed or not. btw have you beat the mission 'the queen's eyes'? the dlc mission will show up after you finish that i think

Got around it by skipping Kingo, using kodama bowl, tatenashi everything except iga boots and two iga weapons. So i have iga +70 ninjutsu and the tatenashi CCD bonus and Equipment Weight A with the yasakani. It's not bad, i guess?

that sounds weird. did you have the correct ninjutsu mystic art equipped? what about the thrusting damage perk in spear skill tree? and the shuriken damage perk in ninjutsu skill tree? did you apply weakness talisman to the bosses? and did you miss any of the affixes i shown in the video at 0:35? and did you have around 660 ninjutsu power?

Farid Jamaludin another question (cause there's a bug that's in this build xD) on your gloves, is the thrown weapon dmg x2 inheritable? Because on mine it isn't, and I have rolls for x1 dmg, x2 dmg, and x4 dmg. I am 99% sure it's a bug, cause my base thrown dmg was around 2k, but I manage to hit 8k most the time (around 80% of the shots, with only ~60% x2 dmg)

I'm gonna be honest, this build will do a lot more damage if you only pull around 60% on the 2x dmg, if you can fill out with thrown weapon dmg instead. I on my current build (still not even fully optimized) am hitting 14k from behind, with weakness, only armor and spirit giving bonuses really, I'm gonna work on reforging tonight since I finally have a day off work

trade x2 damage with pure damage will indeed increase your maximum damage per hit. even with 1% chance of x2, you get your damage doubled if you are luck and that damage will be very huge since you have really high pure damage boost. but the problem is, you overall get less chance to do the x2 damage. i think statistically they are pretty much the same =3

aquCHAOS I'm just saying that you'll have more consistent damage, and usually higher payoff numbers, with a upper mid amount of x2 chance. Just tested it, grabbed 2 pieces to get 100% x2 chance, total dmg went down on average, hitting 3k and sometimes 7k (just realized that was first hit dmg), with the normal setup I use (around 60% x2, and the rest thrown dmg --%) I was hitting 2.5k, 5k (10k on first hits). This basically means I lose 500 dmg per kunai, if I don't get the x2 dmg, but it pops often enough that it's a good enough risk/reward. All numbers for this were gotten off toad dad in the giant frog bowl, way of the demon. No buffs or debuffs to affect damage numbers, only swapping my headpiece and foot piece (the two I have inherited thrown wpn dmg on) with a different set that has x2, and back to test.

Go in "Death to the Bandits" mission on Way of The strong (act 1) and farm all the revenants there, then refresh at the shrine. People are sharing items there. I got 7 today in 2 hours of farming.

Yes. you can stack 22% 2x dmg on each armor part and when you get arround 80% you almost ALWAYS deal DOUBLE dmg (2xdmg) And you can add "throw weapon dmg 20%" on an armor piece or charms for that specific chance to get extra "throw weapon dmg" So lets say that you deal double the dmg from throw weapon dmg x2. IF at the same time it also procs the "throw weapon dmg, it will boost that double dmg.

No no, when you run behind them, or even in front of them, in melee range is considered close combat. Try it with a Dual Bloodstained Hatches with same stats as that Onikiba Kusarigama and you will see. AND Gyokuto guardian as primary and Nekomata as secondary will give BEST dmg.

I think 3 piece Tate/4 piece Iga with Nekomata/Gyokuto guardian spirits is the way to go if you prefer damage from the front. Since your overall damage is better, the back damage is still good too.

The drop is luck based. The fastest way is to do the Gourd mission (if you're strong enough) to farm tons of divine gloves, using a luck build or luck during living weapon accessories! I got mine by doing that mission. Marobashi is also good. :D

i do have weight reduction affixes on 2 pieces of the armors i think, which makes my total weight below 31.0. Forget to mention it in the video, sorry =3 btw, your damage loss might be caused by the low +x level equipment. If you have at least one +9 level items on your, you get 40% more damage (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZycqISDj7SXhtU). Glad to know more people are interested in my video lol
