So many young people seemed to have given up on dating these days. Is it just too emotionally complicated? The financial burden? It's very unsettling to me because no one is expressing any concerns about it. Is this by design? This feels like some sort of hidden plan created for the sole purpose of population control. It just appears to me that building a family conceived from love is being discouraged when it should be encouraged. I wholeheartedly hope I'm overthinking this...
[Verse 1]
Browsing the apps, in search of affection,
Swipe right, hoping for a deep connection
A date night dinner sets you back a Benjamin,
Modest gratuity, now we're all scraping by
Got bills piling high, rent’s knocking at the door,
How’s a young love supposed to even the score?
[Chorus]
It’s a price tag heartbreak It's a lover's stress ,
In a sea of doubt, Waves of pain crashing down,
Love buried deep, can't help us now
Feels like social genocide, and it cuts so deep.
We’re chasing dreams, but they slip right through our hands,
Drowning in expenses, young love can't grow
[Verse 2]
Used to be about living in the moment, throwing caution to the wind
Now it’s all about hoarding enough cheddar to cover the rent
Can’t enjoy a movie, with no butter on the popcorn.
Abstinence controls the population curve
Much more humane than planned parenthood
A license to kill the means to an end
[Bridge]
Instead of love, we’re buried in debt,
Trying to build a life, but we can’t place a bet.
It’s one thing to save, another to live,
But what can we do when we’ve got nothing to give?
[Outro]
Back in the thirties, an idea was born
A perfect race, cleansing all imperfections.
Remove the cash, can't add coals to the furnace,
Easy to secure the dispute when the subject can't surface
In this barren terrain, the effort to plant the seed is daunting,
With passion exhausted, hope for the future has been abandoned.
