I love adam first heard him with matthew Garrison first CD . The Brother is way out ther got to check out just leaning about him. I live journey agents . They all have their own voice. I don't compare they are their selves. And can go to another level when inspierd.

Adam Rogers is capable of elasticity in his time - it's one of the things I really like about his playing. It's like there's an arc to a lot of his lines, which I think he got from all that classical training, where they're quite conscious of those things...

Adam Rogers is incredible. This is Nir Felder soloing. He is incredible. Elasticity keeps both their jockey shorts up.

My favorite guitar player since the first time I saw him. For some reasons 2:27 to 2:33 makes me smile, don't know why.

The number of armchair music critics who don't know what they're talking about in the comment section is too damn high! I guess that's how you know the guy is killing. The better a musician is the more critical the youtube comment section becomes.

With guitarists like wayne krantz, adam rogers, nir felder...how does the 55 bar stay in business? Dont get me wrong, great players, but the question still stands
@johncastillo60689 жыл бұрын
over priced drinks with 2 minimum drinks per set. might as well charge 30 dollars at the door
@JulianJayme9 жыл бұрын
I don't understand your question. If you consider them all to be great players, how does their presence relate to the 55 bar struggling to stay in business?
@MrEthanJason9 жыл бұрын
Jazz club entertainment cost drives away fans. One $pend $o much any given performance it's easy to choose donestic entertainment. Truest insult is the watered down drink served universally in the jazz club cosmos. Kills the culture.

^ So you're saying that the musicians don't deserve fair pay?

i've been there many times and generally theres a great crowd. Its pretty small so capacity is not a lot at all. I saw Wayne Krantz play his third set of the night after selling out the first two and it was still standing room only with people everywhere.

This is cool and everything, but you gotta remember that you can play almost anything over this kind of chromatic harmony and get away with it as long as your time is solid (which it is, for the most part)..Playing this freely when you have to articulate obvious changes is another story...But I don't mean to detract from this...It's a style thing.
@machinegunlicks10 жыл бұрын
I actually think that you can be able to develop good motifs and ideas in this "chromatic" harmony just if you mastered playing over changes. It's not teally playing anything random , it's about developing melodic ideas even without a key or a chord progression. Much harder than playing over changes in my opinion

@@machinegunlicks Agree, when I play over modal static harmonies I tend to fall upon obvious patterns, difficult to escape from

Eh I don't know man. Scofield can stretch behind and in front of the beat. I certainly cannot hear that in Adam Rogers playing. Also I was talking about Nir Felder not Adam rogers but also same thing applies.
@yoshy32112 жыл бұрын
Nir has a very cool thing. He needs to play with some elasticity with his time! It's I just wish he could move on from holding in the same spot all the time. Would be so much more exciting if he did. I guess that's the issue I have with most of the NYC guitarists....
