Just as saitama said humans are strong because they have the power to change. But that change does not happen unless you are determined to. Ive been drawing since i was a kid and started practicising 2-3 years ago cant say i have drastic improvement but i do have subtle improvements. Whether it was achieving to draw perfectly or draw a somewhat perfect circle in one go. Its up to you if you want to see it as part of your improvement! Bare with it and youll have what you always longed for!

I try my best to get atleast 2 hours of drawing every day, or overall roughly 14 hours a week on Art over the last 2 years. It was a slow ass climb but I’m beginning to finally get the hang of it, I seem to be making large steps in progress nearly weekly now. Nearly all my pieces lately have been better then the last and my understanding seems to be getting better at each one. Some times you just gotta brute force some shit

You're awesome! :) I've been drawing seriously for two years, several hours a day. I've seen my drawing abilities exceed where I thought I would be. I think one of the most difficult challenges is the artists' mindset - it's a constant grind, and we're often times at odds with where we want to be. Would love to see you demonstrate character anatomy / perspective more (and how to do clothing on top of that, gosh it's been a battle for me).

I am a beginner. So this is awesome to watch. I still aim to create my own manga one day. So I obviously have to learn to draw to get started. Yikes!? Sort of. But it's a start. Edit: You are very good at teaching beginners as you take details in people and understand them. Yes, it is overwhelming. Yes, sometimes you don't want to draw. Yes, on everything else. Its s struggle as you have to figure out how to do certain things. But you nail it. Different approaches. How you do it sounds great as it helps those that are not strong in drawing anatomy to focus less on detail. Just focus on the poses and draw from there. That is wonderful advice. Thanks.

But sometimes you also need to take a break because of art block. It might not help everyone but taking a break sometimes gets my art to improve as well, during my break, I watch videos... Sometimes, I look at art and try to see what they did to get that far, basically everything I can with art. But only once a week to get myself back into drawing. And after I feel as though I have regained all of my energy. I start to draw again

Thank you for this. I just came across this video, and it helps me to stay motivated. Motivation isn't ways easy to find, and it sucks especially when I feel my drawings are lacking. But, I guess seeing you draw and how well you do it fuels me to try harder. I also like how you start with “baby steps.” Some small exercises that you could do in 10 minutes or so, and then you can move on to longer and better things when you feel comfortable. This was what I needed.

Ok, the this method sounds great to use, and I will. But the struggle I have is the anatomy and how to properly draw body parts. Like I searched very hard to understand how to even draw hands and most methods didn’t help. Finally I found a video on how and I sorta get how to much easier now. But I still don’t understand prepositions very good and most drawing tutorials kind expect me to already understand anatomy when I don’t fully understand any of it.

It's pronounced "jest" you're a gesture is usually a hand motion you make to give an impression of something, or communicate an idea. Like the 'jest-ure' of sliding your finger across your throat, meaning death or you're dead. Remember it's a soft 'g' (or j sound), not a hard 'g' as in guess it's not "guess-jer" it's "jess-ture"

Also I would say working out and practicing art alot more in common then you then. When you boil it all down it intent in the effort we put forward. Drawing aimlessly isn't bad but those strokes of learning come and go so slow progress. Sorta like being active in the day to day, yeah I'm mobile even limber but I'm no way trained physically. Now we take that and add intent, what we want then we can narrow our focus then allow us to capitalize. Feel like the big question to ask before starting is Ask why am I doing this.

Practicing frequently ideally every day will help you improve - worked on a character for 1.5 weeks and my first image to last was huge. A few months ago I tried gesture drawing everyday I only did it for about a week but filled pages full of drawings, I improved so much and my understanding of anatomy and the way the body moves increased greatly. Then I stopped because I had no discipline :/ I hope everyone here and myself can build discipline so we can become the artists we want to be, we just gotta keep at it 💪

The "Saitama Method" is also a good name for another reason: The creator of One Punch Man, (He goes by name ONE), started making One Punch Man comics back when his art skills were absolutely terrible (which was sort of the joke at first). The funny thing being that he drastically improved his art skills A LOT by consistently drawing the manga despite it all. Zooming forward, the manga were re-illustrated by another artist, (this is also the art style for the anime) but ONE's other project Mob Psycho was so polished by the time it got an anime, that they didn't have to change styles.

I've been drawing seriously for over a year and realized I didnt reach a level anywhere close to yours. Again, this has been said in the video, but again: train based on discipline. I drew when i felt motivated and spent sometimes weeks without touching a pen and that got me practically nowhere. This video helps me greatly because it gives me an objective, concrete exercises I can practice, and sometimes the best advice comes from someone who's still learning themselves. I am absolutely baffled at your art, and thank you for helping people like me who still need guidance :D

The best exercise is instead of comparing your art to others, go back to your first sketches and compare on what you've imporved upon, that's going to help you feel a lot better because it's direct improvement and you feel nice seeing that you aren't where you started. @@Vollmond720 yeah it's unfair to yourself to compare to others especially since everyone has their own style. Im not an amazing artist by any means but i try to draw every day. My advice would just be don't lack on the fundamentals, practice them often, and most importantly inspiration and stealing are two different things. It's ok to learn how your favorite artist draws noses, eyes, etc. There's nothing wrong with that as long as you're not just copying. Also, tracing, i wish I would have known about tracing sooner, it helps your hand retain the muscle memory to draw. So keep at it and I'm sure you'll be doing great soon

Where do you find your references and such, if you don't mind me asking. I'm currently trying to study anatomy, and find myself struggling to find good distinct or unique poses.

Good video! Just remember, gesture drawing shouldn't use an eraser or undo. It's quick and is meant to be about flow. Just draw over the mistake when gesture drawing otherwise you'll always be expecting to hit undo even when you don't need it which breaks your tempo.

Thanks for the fantastic resource, I started doing things like this myself before discovering this video, its really encouraging to know that I'm on the right track! Also- you're saying gesture like "Guess" but it's pronounced like "Jest" - you're on the right track, just start it with a J sound not a guttural G Idk if English is a second language or if you have difficulties pronouncing words, I just wanted to let you know incase nobody has told you :)

This might come across a bit rude, but I had my doubts coming in to this video, most drawing tutorial videos are - for lack of a better word - garbage. Couple that with a bit of a meme title "The Saitama Method" and it's a combination ripe for mediocrity. That all being said, I was pleasantly surprised by how well articulated and comprehensive this was, bravo, I never should have doubted you~

I’ve drawn a lot but not consistently so I basically can’t draw shit. I’m trying this method out now to see if it helps but my sketches looks terrible, I can’t seem to get the form of what I’m copying right, is that normal?

consistency is key and it can be applied to anything. for me, my art really began to improve the more i drew and created. over time, i've found myself being able to create some work that i do like amidst all the bad drawings, and this balance will continue to shift over time. still got a long way to go though. great video! i haven't done any gesture drawing or anatomy practice in a while, but now i feel inspired to get back to it. i also feel motivated to create a more consistent practice for myself. awesome stuff

You are saying gesture wrong. It’s a soft g not a hard g. Don’t attack me. I’m trying to help.
