@BrookeEmber Yeah, he speaks in code, and later assigns meaning to it, and lets the reader attach meaning to the cryptic words as well, pure genius

just in case anyone is doubting the acuracy of the lyrics in the vid soon after the album was released they released the lyrics coz due to the way Kurt used to read most ppl didn't understood (some still don't) so no it's not "proceed from shame" like some may think no matter how weird it may sound it is "aqua seafoam shame"
@giuliano116
@giuliano116 15 жыл бұрын
That is a pretty cool theory but I've lip-read a few of the live performances most notably MTV: Unplugged and he definatley sings "Aqua seafoam shame". But I like that theory :P :)

So, from what I've read here I take it that in the booklet of 'In Utero' it actually says "Aqua seafoam shame". However, knowing Kurt and his sense of humour, he might have put the wrong lyrics in there just to mess with our minds, when in reality he sang "I'll proceed from shame" (which would make a whole lotta more sense) or "Opposite of shame" or something along these lines.

@laurasamj "Dave Grohl joined the grunge group Nirvana as its drummer in 1990 after the break up of Grohl's previous band: Scream. In order to occupy himself during tours, he took a guitar with him and wrote songs. Grohl held back these songs from the band; he said in 1997, "I was in awe of frontman Kurt Cobain's songs. And intimidated. I thought it was best that I keep my songs to myself."

@BoysLikeMeee normally when people hate jocks, it is because they got their ass kicked by them. The grunge scene was a counter response to glam rock and bands like Motley Crue, Van Halen and Guns and Roses, the sound and image are "dirtier". I grew up in the grunge era, but now that I look back, this is some really depressing shit and glam rock bands like Skid Row are so much more fun than the anger and angst put forth by grunge. Either way, I grew up in a great time.

I understand Kurt was the true genius and madman behind nirvana's music, but everyone always forget's about dave grohl. I mean it's no coincidence Dave has been in two extremely successful rock bands and even was successful in TCV as a side project.

I believe that is what he is saying, pretty sure actually. what i'm wondering is when people make these lyric videos....where are they getting these lyrics from?? I used to always rely on the inside of the album sleeve or CD or cassette tape LOL....to know the lyrics but that is not done anymore. I am old, if you couldn't tell lol!!

He sang it in different ways but I personally feel and this is MY OPINION only. That it is,.. I'll take all the blame, I's conceived (from, or for,) shame. Some born free as a bird, choking on the ashes of her enemy. And I hear all alone is all we are. And that's only at the very end.

It doesn't really matter though, a great song is a great song no matter what, and he may have even wanted that people wouldn't always be exactly sure what he sang or what his songs were about.

@iluvmusic2300 same here im 12 and i love nirvana.... without out nirvana there would be no hannah montanna crap........ my life is a lot like his as an upcoming teen, and a lot of the things kurt sings bout i can relate to, and other ppl ( the techno crap lovers) they listen to kurts lyrics and they have o idea what hes talking about and they think his words are crazy. but i think every word as a meaning and when you put them together they make a meaningful message to say!!!!!

@iluvmusic2300 Other than all the people out there, telling you you're wrong and all. But, I believe they didn't understand you. I think you were talking about the songs today are all about getting f-ed up, and how great it is. And yeah, That's great and all, but can't we all come to the conclusion, that, rock-Grunge, alternative, Every Genre, Has some drugs, and most people have problems even if they say they don't. Cause everyone does. --Also you're wrong. Nirvana has a song about Marijuana.
@0ffen
@0ffen 13 жыл бұрын
@iluvmusic2300 They also have many other referances to other drugs, as well as queens of the stone age --"Feel good hit of the summer" (With Dave Grohl.); and honestlly. There's always gonna be some little shit that goes and says, OH, yeah, lets go get fucked up for the sake of getting fucked up, but then there's the person that does it to ease their mind, for the sake of putting themselves back into reality, and to make them feel good enough to make something and call it their own.

@iluvmusic2300 And What about M.V. (Moist V*gina) Nirvana made that song -- it was about sex and weed. Same with Gallons of rubbing alcohol flows through the strip. -- If you don't know totally what you're talking about, you need to research it. Nirvana had alot of non-mainstream stuff, too. My personal favorite is the last song i said. xD

@dcdude171 I don't think he wanted to disturb Cobain's genius work, The Foo Fighters never would have happened if Cobain hadn't have died, he felt inadequate compared to Cobain, and never approached him with his work, i'm glad the Foo Fighters existed tho, great band, not my favourite tho, mostly due to the media over-saturation, they treat him like Cobain jr. its retarded

R.E.M, Losing my Religion, and this one are probably among the top 10 of the nineties, and put to shame the disasters that are barking sounds and doing a lot of shaking nowadays. When you are a great singer with great material, you don't need any stupid tricks to camouflage how bad your "art" is.
