This would have been a nice direction for Kurt to explore if he had the chance to. It was nice to hear a more positive sounding song in the major key from him, yet still tinged with his signature melancholy™. That said, I don't think it's as dark as people are saying. It doesn't sound like a last song to me at all, it sounds like a new beginning. Also, I really really don't think these are anywhere close to the final lyrics. It sounds like he's just mumbling to find the syllables and rhythms while he shows the song to Pat. Kurt did that a lot, and a ton of other singers/songwriters do it too. Some good interpretation of various real words and gibberish, but this video should probably come with a disclaimer. Having these lyric guesses on the screen paints the song as some pained epitaph when otherwise it sounds like he was trying to move away from that stuff a bit as an artist. I could be wrong about all this though.

This is really haunting for a song in the major scale. Also, that picture of him looking depressed in his Smells like Teen Spirit outfit really symbolizes something... you can’t see his face because it’s covered up by a shadow. This shadow is fame. The only thing showing is his hair, the outfit, and his guitar. This symbolizes how the media didn’t care about Kurt as a person, or his individuality, they just cared about how popular he was. To most people and the media, Kurt was just a grunge figure. And this photo shows that.

Everyone always gets the lyrics wrong!! I say down and for two hours listened and rewound until I got the real lyrics: If I'm me, If I'm high. Lay me down weeping. And if I say, what it's like. I might be, dreaming. If I may, what is right. Summertime, see me... heaaal me... Bridge #1: Those years, in his blond head. A phrase, from his pocket. The chain's, from his nowhere life-long dream... Chorus #1: Re Mi Re Mi Well... Do Re Mi Do Re Mi... If I may, and if I might. Wake me up, and see me. If I do, and if I lie. find me out and save me. If I'm red, and cold as ice. I might have, to see me heeal me... Bridge #2: Raised in, his own care. Erased from, this moment. The change from, his sock that I may neeed.. Chorus #2: Re Mi Re Mi Well... Do Re Mi Do Re Mi Do Re Mi Do Re Mi... Wish me good, and wish me life. Find me out, of season. In your way, just be quiet. Follow pain, and be me. Yell or whale, and if I sigh. Seek me out, and take me. If I may, and if I might. Got a gun, to bleed me... Bridge #3: A phrase, in his pocket. Erased from, his woman. The chain's from his owner in my teeeaaaa.... Chorus #3: Re Mi Re Mi Re Mi Do Re Mi Do Re Mi Do Re Mi Do Re Mi Do Re Mi... I know these lyrics to be right not only from time spent listening and rewinding, but also because I'm a songwriter and am able to hear the stressing on certain phrases that some people might not catch because of the way it can slur when bending and shifting vocal notes!! I put a lot of work into this so I hope some of y'all appreciate this!!

First time hearing this in the middle of the night under a full moon. I believe we discover acts of beauty at specific moments. There’s no explanation. It’s a beautiful song in its early workings. I can definitely hear a Beatles/John Lennon influence and also shades of early Bowie ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ album and possibly ‘Hunky Dory’. Ultimately, it’s Kurt Cobain. What a gift.

I thought this may interest people who love Nirvana. I have a rare Itinerary that I got in a "In Utero/Box-Set" here in Australia in 2013. It was for the 20th anniversary of the album's release date. Now it came with a Book and a few little collectors items. A invisible man mask, 4 CDs, 2 DVD's, etc. Now in one of the sleeves in the In Utero book, they had the complete itinerary of both the North American Tour Dates, including press days, and other stuff, like days off, Travel days via, Planes or Buses, depending on the loup etc, etc. So for the European Dates, it says Nirvana left America from Seattle to LAX, then to Paris, during the early morning hours of February 2 1994. They arrived in France around mid-day February 2 1994. February 3, says rest day. February 4th they play a variety show in France, where they played the 3 songs, in those pinstripe suits. They rehearsed as part of the shows segments earlier in the day. The actual show was filmed earlier, mid-afternoon, so Nirvana could travel to Cascais, Portugal on the evening of February 4th. It says they traveled by plane to Portugal from France I thought they just used the 2 Tour Buses during the European Tour, but I'm going by what it says. They arrived in Portugal, by 11:45pm February 4th. And on the afternoon of February 5th they rehearse in a space at the hotel allocated for the band to rehearse etc. Lastly on the morning of February 6th they rehearse at the arena in Cascais Portugal where they are scheduled to play that night, do a soundcheck, it even says rehearsels finished at 2:00pm soundcheck starts from 3:05pm to 3:50pm. Kurt and Pat Smear and Melora Creagar, the cello player go back to the hotel for an hour or so, they come back to the arena with 2 members from the Buzzcocks less than an hour later. Go figure. And that is the start of Nirvana's European Tour of February/March.

I listen to Kurt's voice most of the time, putting it in front of the music--but, in these acoustic home recorded songs, I listen to his guitar, and place the strumming up front. With my focus on the rhythm, feeling each chord's dissonance or harmony, I hear his voice as a melody supporting the music. The lyrics and his story comprise the background. This brings a fresh perspective to the experience of hearing his songs and is a bright pleasure to see, like standing back from something you've been hard at work at to see it's beauty and grandeur.
