You can rly notice the double vocals, if I remember correctly he didnt wanna double the vocals on the tracks but his producer explained that this is how John Lennon would do it most of the time. And that made Kurt more accepting to it.
@nope1105 жыл бұрын
He hated the production on this album, it was over produced and not raw sounding like he liked, while this sounds objectively better than bleach or in utero, the actuall sound on those 2 are far superior to, in kurts words, the 'squeaky' sound on this

People have no idea how tight these vocals are, to make double tracks sound this good,so identical that they almost sound like a chorus effect on one single track, it takes a good ear like kurt’s to pull off something with this quality, and an amazing producer like Matt Wallace as well. Even though Kurt wasn’t technically proficient as a vocalist he was an amazing song and melody writer, and he had visceral and raw and very powerful vocals.

The way he hits the notes on "tooooo pretend" is so crushingly beautiful when you isolate it like this. Like the note sticks out different or hits different without the other instrumentation especially the note on "-tend." Holy hell. It's way more...mournful almost. No wonder pianists love to cover this. It's very dramatic!

PIlotrcm on the prechorus and chorus. It's actually quite common. Back then Kurt didn't want to do it when Butch Vig suggested it. Then Vig said, "John Lennon did it." Kurt: "Okay, lets do it."

It's called double tracking. You record it twice and pan one to the left and the other to the right. Really common in music with heavily distorted guitars.

T K Don't get me wrong I love Nirvana. I was a teenager in the 90s but his "stomach alignment" was from heroin use. Ask any heroin user how their stomach feels. Dude had a serious habit. He said himself he medicated himself with heroin.

My best friend is also a Nirvana fan such as myself. We are the only ones who listen to Nirvana at our class. When we were at a party pretty drunk we sang this masterpiece with everything we had. One of the best moments of my life. Also after both of my grandparents died I listened to this just to escaped from the pain of real life. This small thing helped me not to fall into depression. Grandma and Grandpa also Kurt, you shall be never forgotten, rest in peace!!!
