This is the first song I ever remember hearing in my life. It was 1993, I was 3 years old. I’m a year older than you so I had listened to them for about a year and a few months before his suicide, when I was 10. No one else I knew but me and my friend listened to Nirvana in third grade, lol. Her dad was going to take us to a show (she got to go!) 😭 but my mom wouldn’t let me. To be fair, I was 9, and my friend’s dad was 100% a heroin junkie. But honestly, I was way too young to understand. I'm 16 y.o. and when my father heard that i listen Nirvana, he told me a story. When he was in high school, Kurt Cobain was, of course, alive and Nirvana was at the peak of popularity, (I was really surprised when know that american music was popular even in Soviet Russia). And my dad was really good guitar player, he even now sometimes play, but very rare. And he had his music band in school where played he and his friends. And they sang not only Russian songs, but also songs in English, especially Nirvana! Funny in this story is that my dad (and in general rare at that time) did not knew and almost never heard English speech! And they played their songs in invinted English language, like, how they heard words from cassette of poor quality, they sing it this way! When my mother heard the songs of Nirvana in his performance, she laughed very much (because my mother knows a little English) and she said to him 'you know that you just came up with all these words and they do not even closely resemble English!"... He was even a little upset, because he was sure that he was singing in English! XD

I was barely entering my teens when Nirvana got big. At 14, I waited in the rain outside the old sports arena in Phoenix with my older sister to get in to see Nirvana play during the state fair. Now he has been dead for as long as he lived. Remember being 13 or 14, or even 15. The feeling of restless yearning to be a little bit more independent, a little freer, old enough to drive. Remember the intensity of feeling you felt for every single thing you loved. You know the vibe. That was Nirvana for me.

The Internet Killed Music Whilst I do use youtube considerably, I do buy my music as well. I also don't use ad-block, so that creators that I like get the money that they deserve. I agree, this modernisation of the music industry has had an effect on quality, at least, the quality of popular songs. See its hard to make a good song and get it popular nowadays, so artists will create basic, catchy songs so that they will still make money. However, that doesn't mean that people don't still make quality music, I just means that you're not looking hard enough. If you think that since Katy Perry has another No.1 that all modern music is terrible. you really need to look at the history of music, bad music has always been popular and good music has always gone under appreciated. The passing of time slowly weeds out crap music just as it does with movies, eventually people will think this generation made great music and their own is terrible.
