Somehow the ending to this episode actually got to me emotionally. I think more serious moments like that work because while this show is entirely a comedy, the chemistry and bond between the two protagonists is so strong that whenever there is a serious scene between them you can really feel it, because not only is their friendship very serious, but it’s also very real and genuine. EDIT: It wasn’t until I read another comment that I realized that the ending was directly parodying a PSA and now although I feel a bit foolish I think the ending is still emotionally effective.

I always tear up when I see it. Just because it's a parody doesn't mean it has no emotional meaning. In fact, they have to parody stuff to get access to the music via fair use law.
