Salil Chowdhury once said in Akashbani interview that the melody was first heard in a temple in Kerala and he was much influenced by this tune and later he created the song.Though Bengali song was first created and Malayalam was later after one year.Truth is that the tune was unknown and legendary and great Salil sir made the song universal.

What a composition, picturisation!! How many violinists must be there.. and the guitarists leave a mindboggling impression before the antra starts.. this guitar piece is not there in Malyalam version sung by S Jhanki for Swapnam with same great composer Salil Chaudhary. Though I prefer this track to Malyalam version.. this one takes you to different world.. Lata is unbeatable, naturally.
