"Nisbia" Official Music Video - Choni Goldman

Choni Goldman, winner of the title Jewish Star of 2012, has released his first music video which was filmed in the oceanside Brooklyn neighborhood of Brighton Beach.
Produced by Danny Finkelman, the clip shows Goldman bringing a hopeful message to an area still recovering from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy not long ago.
With the Atlantic Ocean in the background, Goldman sings "Nisbiah," the song composed especially for him by musical talent Eli Gerstner as part of his prize for winning the international singing competition.
Choni's quick rise on the public stage comes on the heels of youthful endeavours, among them singing as an 11-year-old with Mordechai Ben David at a concert in his native city of Johannesburg, South Africa.
A seasoned chazzan as well, fans say his honey golden voice, free flowing style and comfortable stage presence, produces a refreshing synergy that pulsates through his performances.

Find a course online or sign up for a beginner’s class in person. If you contact a local schul, you can probably find an adult class or get a tutor to learn the basics. Once you learn the alef beis, it’s not a difficult lsnguage.

If it helps, Nisbia means 'may we be sated.' He is singing about wanting the world to be full of G-d's wisdom, love, healing, etc. Nisbia is from Psalm 65, verse 5.

Nisbia means 'may we be sated.' It's from Psalm 65, verse 5: "May we be sated with the goodness of Your House and the Holiness of Your Sanctuary." Nisbia is a version of the Hebrew word 'sabah' which means full of food. The letter nun (the Hebrew 'n') makes it plural in a manner of speaking. Difficult to look up because it's two words in one and the English transliteration isn't exact. Hope this helps.

hebrew is easier in a way then many other languages.. since most words have a root (shoresh) and then there are rules that tell u which letters and sounds to add that change the root to past present future and his, hers, yours, mine, ours....

haha thats what i do! i want to touch up my hebrew i understand and can speak a lot but i get stuck a lot so i took out my favorite book from the library in hebrew and i have the english one. That way when i c a word or sentence i don't understand i can cross match. of course tv shows r more ideal...

Haha, I can understand that!! You gotta find someone to practice with- OR, you can do like my grandmother (who spoke 7 languages, learned them all on her own!) and watch movies in those languages with subtitles! Or TV shows. Either way, it's an idea. Best of luck!
