S14 is still my favourite generation I prefer it over the s15. Hearing the sr20 hitting the limiter while drifting is heavenly

I had 2 S14a's, second one tuned to stage 2, looking standard bar wheels, but had all the normal mods... Loved them!

Last time I saw a fully original 200SX was five minutes ago - I own one bought new - 2001 with now only 41000 on the clock and a totally clean MOT! Worth more now than when I bought it, and still a daily driver!

2 mins ago here! Had mine since 2007 and it’s no longer in daily service but kept for high days. 50k miles, Manual with some choice upgrades (stage 1a, Nismo suspension, hks exhaust etc) it really is a special thing and immaculate. Definitely a keeper! If you know, you know 😊

Such a privilege to drive this immaculate and factory standard 200SX S14a. Bought back many memories of daily driving 200SXs and Silvias in the past, the closest you can get to a Porsche 944 Turbo from Japan... Also I mistakenly said Skylines have McPherson strut suspension instead of 200SXs! Skylines have double wishbone up front which is the main difference in their chassis compared to these smaller 200SXs with McPherson struts.

I was lucky to have 1 in my early 20s, and yes, they were a cheaper, more reliable Sierra cosworth. They were selling around £5k mid 2000's. But yes they got drifted to death or rotted away. Mine ended up around a lamppost after selling it on.

I owned a 2001 red S14 with 26.000 miles, It was wonderful :)

I own a S14a red automatic. I brought the car in 2001 with 8000miles on it. I have kept it standard. At 130000 I had the car resprayed and a fabricator took all the rot out of the back end of the car and replayed it with new metal. I had the engine rebuilt and remapped. It runs like a dream like and a new car and better than it was when I first built it. A old style drivers car. The feeling it gives you on the road is very special and I have driven nothing like it.

It runs better than when I first brought it. I have driven a few supercars but nothing gives you the feedback and feeling you get from driving this car. It is a one off.❤.

I've got a manual, non-turbo s15 coming in from Japan currently. I can't wait. I have really struggled to find any reviews of them in stock form, so really appreciate this video. Essentially the same car. Loved the video, thank you

Thanks for your kind words! I actually had a non-turbo S14 manual a while back and found it to be a fantastic drive - the SR20DE is revvy, responsive and has its own character over the turbo cars. 160bhp is enough to bring the remarkably light chassis to life. I fitted an S15 Spec-R 6-speed gearbox to mine which livened up the acceleration as well - would highly recommend that if you get the opportunity.

@shootingbrake thanks for your reply. That's good advice! I had heard that the 5 speed can handle more power though, so I guess that's a consideration. I've been following the DE build from Jimmy Oakes and it seems to be relatively easy to turbo the DE. Compression will always be an issue, but you can get 300hp with relative ease by drilling the block for oil passages to turbo and then obviously installing the turbo and supporting mods. This would work out a lot cheaper than a full DET conversion so is a strong tempation for me long term. Short term, the DE is more than sufficient!

@@BySixa Yes the 5-speed is a much stronger box. The 6-speed unfortunately has a few issues but is sufficiently strong for long term DE usage. It's also worth looking into the SR20VE and Autech SR20DE engines if you wish to stay NA

I still have a 100% original that I have owned from new and it’s a manual. Registered 2000 black and now has 70k miles. Zero rust and engine is as good as it can get! Love it but getting packed away for the winter!
