Big usable buffer below 0% ca 5 kWh. Totally agree with the door armrest, one of the reasons I sold mine.

That steering assist is torque based to stop people cheating it by stuffing an orange or something in the steering wheel like people did with the Tesla system earlier in time so means you need to turn the wheel so it knows you haven't just jumped into the back seat after stuffing an orange into the steering wheel.

No, turning did not make the car notice me. Only a hard press worked.

Actually i like the pressing, I don’t like the idea of forcing against the steering motor every 30 seconds. As a light hand drive i got penalty from my tesla so many times even hands were on the wheel.

Actually I have one and you don’t need to press hard at all but you do have to grip it in the right place just where the centre bar meets the steering wheel at either side. Still annoying though after 16000 miles!

Great job thanks for the review ! Is it me or the car looks like an ID4 ? The exterior design with Piano black is a no no for me, now to be honest, the interior looks great, they did a nice job compared to other EV's, for the issues you identified the car could be modified and brought to a descent level of comfort in a future face lift maybe? For the range I was expecting much more KM with a 87Kw battery.

On steering wheel work by squeeze not turning or touching while using driving assist. you can by armrest pad for making same hight .

Squeeze has to be too hard. Why do I have to buy something to have the same height like Every other car?

@@BatteryLifeThere must have been something wrong. Mine notice me as long as I keep my hands on the wheel. No hard squeeze needed.

@@BatteryLife The car you were driving must have had a faulty steering wheel. I know that in Poland there was a campaign to replace a defective series of steering wheels. When it works properly, you only need to hold it lightly, without squeezing.

The Ariya took forever to arrive in Canada. It's overpriced and the trim levels are a mess. 5 or 6 different names that seem to have nothing to do with each other. I kind of think it's DOA. But thanks for the video Chris! I probably will never see one. haha

nissan have a lot of R&D costs to get back from this car, but the price and huge weight is an issue I think - too high consumption when most people want a car that's as efficient as possible at this price. Maybe they should produce a scaled-down version, using as much of the same components?

Amazing video love this kind of range tests. This brings light in the darkness, 24.4kWh/100km holy crap thats bad. that big battery helps but the consumption is just to high

Wind resistance kills the range at 130km/hr it is high and wide and flat faced. Basically a brick shape ! The numbers are spot on at that speed but dial down to 90 km/hr and you will get over 450 km range over 100 km more !! Moral slow down & save energy & extend the range.

That's pretty bad consumption for such a huge battery? How does it compare to other cars that you've tested? Would be interesting to put that data up too. Thanks for an interesting video!

You need to put in how much charging-time it takes from 10 to 80 and one for 0 to 100.. It is impossible to estimate any sort of travel-time with none of that basic info..

It looks ugly. It's not very efficient. The software is lacking some very useful features. The armrests are going to cause back injury to drivers. It's over-priced. And it seems to only have one regen setting. These factors earn it a solid score of 'Meh!' out of ten. Thanks for the test, Chris. 🙂👍

Looks are very subjective. The Ariya's price is high. However, for any given price point, you get a lot of car for the money. Here in Germany a newly registered vehicle leaves the dealership with a roadworthy certificate (RWC) valid for three years. It needs to be recertified every two years after that. The Leaf has no problem when renewing the RWC. I would expect the Ariya' to do similarly. With a Tesla this becomes a 50/50 proposition.

@@Joe-ud2hb What I meant was that it is quite possible that the inspector reviewing the vehicle would find a fault and request its repair before issuing the RWC.

I love mine, despite the comments which are correct but don’t bother me at all. It’s so smooth and quiet, you get the hang of touching the steering wheel at the right point and if you slow down you will get 17 kWh/100km that is driving in the inside lane & chilling out listening to music if you are not in a hurry!
