Nissan was among the first volume car manufacturers to mass market an affordable 100% electric vehicle- the Nissan Leaf.Renault followed also in this field with Renault Twizy e.v., Renault Zoe ev, Renault Fluence e.v. ,Renault Kangoo ev. Tesla is also a pioneer on premium electric vehicles. I remember that Carlos Ghosn the former chairman of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance who now has some legal problems stated that "Toyota is leader on hybrid technology ,we (Renault-Nissan) wanna take the leadership on affordable electric vehicles and we don't want anybody to take it from us ! You BIGGEST concern is the lack of full adjustment possibility of the steering wheel?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Was this whole video a paid advertisement of NISSAN? I love the LEAF, it so comfortable to drive BUT this car needs to be improved seriously. Competition (e.g. KIA e-Niro) provide a much more better value for the same price tag. Pros: - Well-sized car with a very well-sized boot, supercomfortable for 5 people (e.g.: 2 adult and 3 1-16 years old kids) - Interior is VERY practical despite its older look - Infotainment is also very practical (its one of the best infotainment systems I have ever used - logical setup), there some things that can be improved but it still very usable - Seats are extremely comfortable even during long ranges - Very pleasant to drive, the noise isolation on highway is not perfect but better than other models in the same price range - Manageable through an app (e.g. you can turn pre-heating/pre-cooling on , etc.) Cons: - LACK of any kind of battery cooling management system STILL (airflow is not a management system , just to be clear - management means its manages , tracks, monitors, takes actions if needed). This has been a problem since Nissan released the first LEAF and Nissan still has NOT addressed the most important issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why is this a problem? If you are using the car in a city and charge it at home during the night (10A-20A on one phase) then it is not. BUT if you try to use your LEAF as a normal car (in 2021 is highly expected the electric cars can used in the city or travel long and longer distances) then you have a PROBLEM. DC charging heats up the battery, especially if you charge it from eg.: from 20% to 80% - IT NEEDS COOLING, otherwise your battery suffers degradation (this btw affect all EVS even with active colling but the rate is different) Long story short: Nissan has been neglecting to fix the lack of battery cooling management system. I WOULD NOT BUY A CAR in 2021 that has no active cooling for the battery - Related to the previous point: You can travel distance up to MAX. 400-500km before your battery fries from DC charge - Type2 charging can ONLY support 7,2 Kw/h,/while in 2012, 11 or 22kw/h is something that other models have - Still comes with ChaDemo and not CCS, which is limiting the DC charging capabilities (do not forget that because lack of the battery system cooling probably the ChaDemo (DC charging) would be anyway limited and not to used up to its full potential , CCS can reach easily today 100kw/h or more)- It should have CCS as this is the standard now in the EU. - Anti-collision system is crap. It works perfectly in the Quashquai but it is unreliable in this car - The app is too simplistic, I would expect it to provide all the information the car is gathering by default and much more. (status of the battery, % of time spent with about AC charging and/or DC charging....) - Lack of sentry mode, I know that only Teslas have this BUT in a car with 360 degree view why cannot this be implemented or provided as option - The price is high, the car is expensive. This construction is OLD, not effective. If you want to spent your money well, buy a KIA e-NIro which costs roughly the same price as this car and has a more efficient engine system + ACTIVE BATTERY COOLING MANGEMENT SYSTEM...and has a higher range with a similarly sized battery I would only recommend EV to those that have the possibility of charging the car from a wall socket or have the possibility to install their wall charger at home. The charging has become generally payable (no more free charging) and prices have come close to the price of the fuel in comparison (still not reached parity) so the savings you obtain by buying an EV have reduced significantly. EVs needs a serious price reduction. Last note: Big car companies have been fooling us for decades and intentionally killed all attempts to switch from a combustion car to an EV. If you seriously consider to buy an EV, please support a real alternative not related in any way to the bug car companies, and that is TESLA for me currently (I do not have the confidence in Chinese manufacturers currently , maybe this will change if they prove that their products have the quality I expect).
@AlexGonoff3 жыл бұрын
Chinese EV manufacturers rely on revenues from combustion engine cars, there are no independents. In the West it is similar, except maybe Tesla, but Tesla is still not profitable. Small independents are failing miserably. Simply put, building an EV requires significant investments, and selling an EV doesn't give relevant profits. Big car companies can do it now when they get money selling ICE cars, but if the whole world converts to EV... .

Not having the Steering adjustable forward and back means you have to find the correct distance from the wheel by moving the seat. @albacar70213 жыл бұрын
The faster the charging the shorter the battery life. Either be patient with slower charging or find your batteries fail just after the warranty expires. Neither the EU nor manufacturers are bothered whether your batteries need changing just after the warranty expires because they won't be paying for them.
@martinweston81473 жыл бұрын
That’s correct if there’s no proper thermal battery management, thus the solution is add active thermal management like proper fast charging EV’s. Plus there are no new charges being installed with Chademo, it’s live VHS and Betamax and in Europe CCS has won.

Physical buttons are a plus in these days :D I believe electric cars are not jet enjoyable as IC cars (maybe they will never be :( ). Yes they accelerate fast, but you need to look at the whole package. The car is heavy so handling is worse and longer drives with poor suspension and short battery distance will be annoying. Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which exact body part you would be murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And if you want the slick look or something to wipe clean easier, that is possible with animal free leatherette. Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@GiGaSzS3 жыл бұрын
@@autogefuehl Thank you for explanation. Unfortunately cruelty with resources and living creatures will not be fixed by not using animal products. This has to be addressed on mentality level of people. Governments around the world should make laws that help people better know the source of any product or food... Leather if humanely harvested and used appropriately can outlast many things. Although in a car they use these cheap colored leather for seats which is destroyed in a couple of years and one needs to pay premium for this, what a joke. This all comes to the age of consumerism we live in :/ I have used leather for DIY craftsmanship (e.g. making a case for phone, laptop, backpack...). I have bought a leather from a known source so I know that animals were treated as humanely as possible for industrial process. After more than 10 years of abuse the leather still holds strong. So this shows that there must be something fishy with this "premium" and "mainstream" leather. But do not try to completely extinct leather because some multinational want to make money. For example you can watch what is going on with people that live near nonhumanely managed plant agriculture fields (let it be for animal of human feed). They do not care about health of plants or people. They just want to grow as much as possible. They use extremely potent and dangerous herbicides, pesticides and other poisons. A lot of times at improper times so all the poisons go to waste/in ground water that people drink! For tropical plants like avocado and pineapple that vegans like to eat it is even worse as they are more difficult to produce so more chemicals are used. And these exotic fruits you get from supermarket are exclusively grown in poor countries on fields that are owned by multinationals and there are little laws in place to protect local people. In some places whole villages are striped of water because of production of such "luxury" fruits. In exchange they receive waste water that is filled with all nasty chemicals. So to conclude, animal products are not the issue, the same is happening with plants products. The multinationals and humanity need to change the mentality otherwise cruelty will happen independent of what is being produced.
@autogefuehl3 жыл бұрын
We cannot fix everything at once, but it is always good to start somewhere and try to avoid unnecessary harm. Skipping animal products is the easiest way to have the biggest positive impact with the least effort. www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/veganism-environmental-impact-planet-reduced-plant-based-diet-humans-study-a8378631.html
