Recently I lost the turbo on my jimny, it's a Jb23w with the 660cc engine and automatic transmission and I am considering converting it to electric. If am doing the math right I could connect the leaf motor direct to the tansfer case and get 144 km/p at 6000 rmp. That plate would be perfect for this

Great innovation, I have been looking for this. This would make it possible to use the transmission for a car / minibus that has a differential.

Yep, exactly. You could run a prop straight from the motor to a differential

very cool. can I ask.. how to clean that motor so it looks brand new? powder coating? how to polish it so it can be displayed?

We made no effort to clean it, its just how it came from the car. haha. You might get good cleaning results from Ice Blasting.

Great videos and project! So are you going to skip the Land Rover gearbox and go direct drive? And if so, how? It would be great to lose the weight of the gearbox. It would be even greater to have two Leaf motors, one on each axle, but direct drive, how? :-)

2 leaf motors would be very cool and its certainly do-able. Direct drive into the axle from the motor would work. Back to back mounted where the gearbox currently lives would leav the entire engine bay for batteries. On our Series 1 EV project we use a Land Rover LT230 transfer box with the motor feeding into that directly.

It would be possible yes, though its not designed for that purpose. The plate has additional mounting points also, to aid a married connection (like bolting to a bell housing).
