Time to service the Patrol has come around again so I thought this time I would set the camera up.
In this video I change over the engine oil, oil filters, fuel filter and check my air filter.
Definitely a job anyone could have a go at in their shed to save a bit of money. Hopefully it helps someone out!

Good video mate. A handy tip: For those without a vice when it comes to fuel filter. Unbolt filter with the main bracket and bolt it all back up upside down with the two bolts and loosen it that way.

Thanks mate. That's a great tip, would never have thought of that! Thanks for adding that, I recon it'll help a few people out for sure.

So good. Also stops the fuel from going everywhere as I can get the bottom part off and pour it away before unscrewing the filter. Happy days

great video mate! little tip on how to bleed "prime" the fuel filter is leave the hose off that goes to the engine pump the fuel and it will fill the filter up then start to come out the engine side once its full, let some come out then attach the engine hose to the filter. this will get all the air out. then pump it up tight and give it some revs once you turn it on for like 30 seconds to help it. cheers

one other thing, once you've filled up your oil and checked its full on the dipstick start the engine leave it running until the oil light on the dash goes out ( this means that the oil filters are full) then turn truck off leave for aprox 3 minutes for oil to settle to the sump and check again those two big filters take about a liter each so it will definitely drop a lot cheers

Hi mate, appreciate this is an oldy but can you let me know if this is a factory turbo and intercooled TD42ti? And the build date? Mines a TD42t built August 2002. Believe it was no factory intercooler. Not sure if that makes a difference. Just trying to work out the filters. Cheers

Hey mate. Just some constructive camera feedback here; perhaps try applying some more light and/or lowering the shutter speed on your camera so you can stop down a bit. The auto-focus with the shallow depth of field was pretty distracting as you were jumping between the vice and right in front of the lens. I'm really enjoying your videos though - keep it up!

Ahah cheers yeah that was definitely a bit of an oversight, could have easily punched the ISO had I thought about it. Luckily Canon's DPAF had my back for the most part or it could have been a disaster 😂

Your air filter is upside down. It is supposed to go foam side up so that when low pressure is created on the clean side it doesn't compress and lift the filter, creating a gap around the bottom. That's the idea anyway, and foam side up is Nissan's recommendation so I'd stick to it.

Correct, allso blowing them out with air is highly debated. The argument against is that it can open up the filtration size holes more causing dust to be able to pass

One thing I couldn't figure out with the new rx super (like you used) is it has a 'CJ' rating not 'CI'. Is there any difference in this?

@@AdventureONTV I used to use it when it had the white label as it had the CI rating (as per manual). New one says CJ, perhaps it's compatible but I switched to a CI base again. Probably doesn't make a difference.

CJ meets the requirements for vehicles fitted with a DPF, but still suitable for older vehicles which do not have a dpf 😊

Depends how much driving you've been doing, it's recommended to do the fuel filter every 20,000kms for the best life out of the engine.
