Boomers and people too lazy to discern quality buy these cars because they look fancy and cool on the outside. Also the car makers have a captures audience so to speak, what else is an "average" guy going to buy if not the shitbox rebadged ultra E Hybrid EQH plastic beater that is available at the dealership? These cars are going to depreciate like crazy in the next decade.

Manufacturers know people are buying cars on PCP these days so you're only paying for 50% of the car. The best time to buy a car was on PCP about 5 years ago before manufacturers cottoned on to this. You could get a Golf GTI for about £280pm on a 4-year deal. Now you'd be paying nearly double!

Compare to the blue color German division then, VW and Opel (what you call Vauxhall) and they will often be cheaper, than everything coming from Japan. That Qashqai is a N-Design finished in Magnetic Blue Two Tone for anyone wondering what trim level and colour. Those seats are unique to the N-Design only with the embroidery. You forgot to mention the RGB LED ambient lighting too! 😊

Want smaller rims? You can put smaller aero rims on it, 18, 17 or 16 if you want.

I believe some nuance is needed when looking at the MPGs for this car. Since there is no direct drive between the engine and the wheels, you are always facing the conversion losses. If you drive a lot of highways, you're not really gonna get any better fuel mileage than a conventional combustion engine. However, if you do a lot of start-stop city driving, the mileage would be more consistent between city and highway.
