I am trying to do mine but do you need to take electric handbrake motor off to wind caliper back,my caliper don't seem to be winding far enough back . It keeps turning but don't seem to be going any further back. Thanks

You don’t need to, it is an option but it’s not a must, make sure you smash that sub button!

Just undo the bottom bolt on the caliper and lift it up like a lid surely? And also, what about removing the cap on the brake fluid reservoir?

you can buy the 3 pin part on Ebay just by it self , my brake kit never had the 3 pin also, you dont need a computer , but on one of the brake pads, inner one there is a pin you must line up with slot on caliper wind back or it will not sit right i have x trail same ,i always use copper past but red rubber grease on the caliper pins, clean and check the rubber boots good video's keep them coming

Hi pal not a criticism just about of advice it’s best to not put grease on the back of the pad as manufacturers put glue on the back of them to help them stick to the caliper piston by adding the grease to the back of it you’re taking away the opportunity for the pad to stick to the piston

Just done a brake pad and disc swap on my mother-in-law’s Qashqai J11, exactly the same as how you did yours except I chose Brembo Pads and Discs. Personal preference that’s all. Functionally the brakes work great and the Brembos are very good. We have an annoying high-pitch squeal when braking very lightly at low speed. I thought it maybe because like you I didn’t transfer over the original anti-squeal skims, forgot to unclip them from the old pads and transfer them to the new ones, as the new ones like yours seemed to have their own one-piece shim. Was curious if you have had any squealing too or is it just the brakes bedding in? Car has done around 2000 miles since so I would assume it’s bedded in by now…

I wouldn’t worry about the anti-squeal skims if I was you. If you just strip them back down and make sure anywhere where metal meets metal has copper grease on it!

you don't need to rotate back the rear piston, you just need to push them back. infact rotating them back is ill advised as the 3 slots in the piston have to engage in the pins on the back of the pad and if you rotate the piston it makes it more difficult to index the slot and pin correctly.

Really? Who has told you this?....we haven’t had a single problem with the brakes and didn’t use a computer

@@BamMotors I recently taken my car in for a recall and was told the front and rear pads were low. They quoted me a silly price and when questioned they said they needed to connect the car to a computer/diagnostics to rewind the calipers in because of the motors. I obviously declined and going to do the work myself this Monday.

@@priteshchampaneri5101 I agree this sounds like a "scam" more or less. Brake adjustments here in Sweden is usually around 20$ to get them balanced _if_ they're unbalanced. If both brakes are replaced at the same time and adjusted to the same setup, it's unlikely to be unbalanced.

The other way is to remove the electric brake and wind it back with a allen key, you can then use a push back tool rather than a wind back tool.

Hand brake didn’t need to come off qashqai’s have disc and drum rear brakes handbrake is operated by brake shoes inside the drum on the rear disc and your outer brake pads are for stopping inner shoes handbrake 👍

Copper grease voids warranty on modern brakes . Wurth synthetic paste is best to use now. The caliper pins benefit from old grease to he removed and cleaned. Then red rubber grease
