My experience of diagnostic tools is you can pay £6000 plus for say a Launch euro tab 3 or a Snap on and you'll always find things it can't do and you'll get say an Autel for under a £1000 and it will do the job others can't do, i personally don't think a diagnostic tool exists that does every job perfectly

I had a similar problem on a 2018 Navara. The DPF warning light would not go away even though the regen had brought pressures down to acceptable levels. No codes in Nissan software but DPF blocked code in EOBD. Autel would not clear the code. I tried an old Launch Diagun and that worked first time. Ghost codes on Nissan seem to be fairly common.

I use both the Topdon and a Autel maxisys ultra. Both have very similar abilities, one will occasionally do something the other wont, or at least I can't find it in the special functions! The Topdon I find easier to monitor live data on and is my go to choice. I have found non Renault cars with a Renault engines are a problem with diag codes, something seems to get lost in translation. Mercedes are a good example, VX Vivaro is another. When working on Vivaro's i manually go in as a Renault Trafic

Nice video .Nissan are a bit odd how they show there info. I have seen this before and they don't show DPF pressure which is useless. I think whatever machine you get it's going have similar issues . I have 3 and I am always checking one machine against another. Saying all that I thing the Top Don is quite good.

Yes all scanners have flaws mate topdon is rather good i use it on mostly every video, I think adding autel into the mix might be a good investment

Strange one that shame you didn’t have an alternative tool onboard for a comparison. Think the main players in the scan tool market seem to be TopDon Launch Autel and thinktool I myself have a TopDon Phoenix light 2 which is ample for my needs had an Autel MP808 before and still have and for the money can’t complain if you were looking at Autel I think the MP 908P would be comparable with your current TOODON.

Was using a Topdon on a Merc today - wouldn't give me jack/access/nada vehicle specific mode for the model I was at - went back & used generic eobd to read & clear the codes which worked fine - but to try get it to identify/offer me the (common as muck) specific model, nope. Does the same with Lexus models..and Daihatsu - acts baffled as to what it is.. which is a windbag way of saying I prefer Launch tbh.. The Topdon also has a massive blindspot when it comes to DPF's, sulks & offers nada on some, then offers all on others. Very hit & miss.

I didn't know they made these in diesel. I worked on both hybrid and gas but never saw the Diesel. What engine does it have in it? Can't have one scan tool to do our job. Try me on this one.

I have a good few scanners, Mostly mercedes so use star I do like the topdon and will continue to use it for future videos, Just a strange scenario i thought would be good to share 🤟
