Do you make the metal inserts (backing strips) for connecting the old panels to the new panels before welding?
@xinxianshi
@xinxianshi 27 күн бұрын
Yes, in auto body repair, these backing strips are often cut from replacement parts to fit the specific contours and dimensions of the repair area. They are placed behind the seam between the old and new panels and serve as a basis for welding, helping to ensure a strong and long-lasting bond between the panels.

@xinxianshi
@xinxianshi 25 күн бұрын

problems with repairs like this is u ever get hit again from behind the original structure is gone and second hit will bend worse
@xinxianshi
@xinxianshi 17 күн бұрын
That's a valid concern. Repairs like this can compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle, especially if the original frame or structural components have been significantly damaged. In the event of another collision, the structural weaknesses from the previous repair could indeed make the situation worse. That's why it's crucial for repair shops to ensure that proper repair techniques are followed and structural integrity is maintained to the best extent possible.
