Such an amazing setup! I have an Ikea Detolf and I want to get the Niteangel cage, but it's really too expensive for my liking, great video and ur hammie is so cute! I love the name

This looks amazing and thank you for continued updates on the Vista! There aren’t many reviews out there and I’ve been going back & forth about purchasing one of these. Also, where did you get the adorable vinyl clings?

I found the clings on Etsy!

Um, I'm not sure, but "untreated wood" might be better. And vinyl that a hamster can chew on might be a problem later on. You definitely don't want treated wood... because it's poisonous. Stains in the wood aren't nearly as much of a problem as a sick/dead hamster!

Do you think the large cage would be fine for a dwarf? I want to be able to use the cage for a syrian as well
@ssomeoneyouknoww

It’s very difficult to ever go too big for hamsters. My previous dwarf lived in a 236cm x 100cm x 58cm pax enclosure. It’s over 2 square meters. 😊

I’m a new hamster owner. I have the PreVue 528 cage, I want this one you have when tax season comes back around lol. But how do I do the bedding? You premix or just throw it in? Thanks for being specific on the sized bedding you used!! I bought one bag and only have 3in fml! I need more. I’m trying tho,

I bought a 57 L package of paper bedding, and a bag of orchard hay to layer in. For more in-depth cage setup videos I believe Victoria Raechel has videos on that :)

I've had the Prevue Hendrix 528. It's good. The only shortcoming is that it doesn't allow for much depth of bedding. I use Uber (found bits of plastic in Kaytee Clean & Cosy, so no more) paper bedding and Hagen/Living World Aspen. Don't worry about getting proportions the same, but they definitely like both, so don't forget the aspen! I also use Oxbox Botanical Hay because it has more smells and different ingredients, and they definitely love that because they're used to being outdoors where they can smell stuff, not just bedding. But she has four wooden hides (1L, 1M, 2S) by Living World made of pine. Also a big cork log. Glass water bottle. Big chinchilla bath but with Hazel Hamster (or the like) sand meant for baths instead of Reptisand or Exo Terra, both of which are heavier and dustier. A manzanita branch... and 12-inch Ware Flying Saucer. The previous one wore out after less than a year, but they're cheaper and more fun-looking than a Niteangel wheel! You did well to get the 528. It's just fine. You probably don't need anything bigger. And while hamsters love deep bedding, they love privacy, smells, variety, and good food (like Mazuri Rat and Mouse, which is all I feed my hamster, who seems to take them like they're treats!). Victoria Raechel and all these enclosure/habitat videos can drive you nuts. Deep bedding, a good wheel/saucer, good food, and fresh water! I use glass because if I had to drink water that was left out maybe for 24 hours, I'd prefer glass over plastic! Oh. And a stone. I got it from the beach and scrubbed it when I got home with a thick-bristled, plastic brush from the dollar store. Hey! Don't put anything heavy on top of the bedding! They can dig underneath it and die under the collapse! While I may find hamster advice I find online annoying and inconvenient, that doesn't mean they're wrong. Ohhhh. One more thing. In the last six months of my hamster Peach's life, I fed her WAY TOO MUCH FRESH FOOD. That's why I only feed my current hamster hamster food. Peach stopped peeing in the sand bath like she had the first year of her life. She peed, pood, ate, and slept under a small wooden hide in one corner and because I'd gotten in the habit of not changing it more than once a MONTH, it got DISGUSTING. One day, eight days before she died, she came out all shakey like I thought she'd had a stroke. I went to an animal hospital that didn't treat hamsters but ended up just going home with her. I cried the next day next to her cage and she squeaked so loudly when she came out and saw my tears! But I kept feeding her fresh food (including pineapple) which made her pee a lot and I didn't realize what was happening until after she'd died. It was my fault. I needed to change the bedding more and I shouldn't have fed her any fresh food, really. So easy to feed her something like Mazuri but I didn't. The next time she came out gasping, I brought her to the window sill and she died minutes later gasping for air. Maybe it was COVID that I didn't seem to get but gave to her. If you want to feed your hamster fresh food, do it VERY SPARINGLY. They shouldn't even need fresh food. If they only eat fresh food, they'll experience a lot of malnutrition and probably pee a lot more than they should. I'm so sorry she's gone. She loved me and I loved her and it's my fault.

Would this size be fine for a Syrian?
@atreyu4ws

Possibly a male Syrian, but the medium size is more suited for dwarf species :)

Great video, question for you, what is your opinion on the air ventilation?
@atreyu4ws
@atreyu4ws 2 жыл бұрын
I think the ventilation is adequate. I have an air purifier running in that room at all times, so air is constantly circulating throughout the room. I also open the lid at least once a day and I haven't noticed any stagnant odors or lack of airflow. I did mention to keep the vents clear in the video, as you can see I have a few small things on top of it.

I want this but my concern is the silicone rings. What if my kids pull them off? Would it fall apart? Is it easy to pull off? I haven’t came across anyone mentioning how does this hold up with home with small children.

It’s a really beautiful cage. Does your hamster ever show stress behaviors in it? Not sure if I should get the medium or large for a dwarf

He hasn't shown any, thank goodness! Niko seems pretty happy. I was a little worried getting the medium when the large was available, but honestly it's a great size for a male dwarf. I didn't really have space for the large so it worked out :)

I am debating get this as a cage for my gerbils and I have looked at reviews online and on here. However nobody mentioned using it for gerbils and if they did if they had any issues. If possible can anyone who has experience with that situation give me some input plz?

They might be able to chew through the wood parts
@missm25
@missm25 Жыл бұрын
I know this is 10 months ago but definitely not gerbils, because like splotchtheham said, gerbils can chew through the material. You could go with an aquarium if possible, or the new stack cages niteangel made that are made out of glass.
@timothyjholloway
@timothyjholloway 8 ай бұрын
Gerbils pretty much need aquariums. I had some and they're little monsters at chewing, probably because I gave away their beautiful Niteangel wheel when they didn't use it in the first few weeks. They kept me up all the time. I loved them, but I also couldn't stand being bitten by them when I picked them up in my hands. If they find a way, they'll probably gnaw right through anything wooden, including this enclosure... and they will find a way.
