I've had this charger for a couple of years now and it is one of the best I have tried. I like that it handles ALL of my batteries from smallest Ni-MH up to large Li-ion. I have several other chargers and this is the most flexible. My Opus BTC3100 is also a great charger but it doesn't do D size. The i4 will also charge batteries that my Tenergy 16-bay units refuse to charge due to low voltages. Many people throw out their Ni-MH batteries because of this but the i4 will work on all but ACTUALY defective batteries. What I don't like about the i4 is that charge currents for Ni-MH batteries can't be selected. I prefer charging at lower current for increased battery life but the i4 seems to charge them at max current and they get very warm.

Hello, I just bought this New i4 charger, and put 2 pcs of my VTC5 batteries for charging. The charger actually get VERY HOT, especially the back and top cover where the LED is. And there is also burnt smell (actually I know its usual for such new electronic devices) Btw.. im using direct AC power as an input

same problem it stinks near the end of the charging cycle

found out if you turn it on its right hand side it removes the heat better.. there heat holes are not in the right place come on nitecore fix it heat rises so why no heat holes on top of the unit are the side

Do the charger and batteries get hot during charging?
@NitecoreStore2 жыл бұрын
If your batteries are getting hot during the charging process that means the lithium is nearing the end of its lifespan and may need to be replaced. OR There is too much juice coming out of the wall plug? Check the user manual to make sure you are not using the wrong wall plug like a 220v one meant for fridges and washing machines.

Goodmorning. I've recently bought the new i4 from Amazon store. I'm trying to charge 4 batteries AA Ni-MH. I put them in, and they all start blinking (first row). After few hours, the first row stop blinking, still lighted, and the second row starts blinking. After few hours, it's the third row of leds that start blinking. Some time later, for every battery slot, all the 3 rows are lighted and noone is blinking. BUT, when i take off the batteries, they are not charged. Why?

I miss the cooling fans, and longer / wider battery slots for 18650. removing cells from nitecore chargers damaged the shrink tube on the battery.

Hello Nitecore, I plugged the plug into a wall socket whilst the cabld was not plugged in to the charger, when I plugged it in, it had a very small spark at the place where you put the power cable in, this is fine right?
@ClipsterBot6 жыл бұрын
Nitecore Store Unusual , the charger performs normally, should I return it, I wouldn't want to do that. It works fine for me.

This charger has some of the most obscure and unintuitive controls, as well as unclear and overloaded indicators I've seen on an electronic device. The manual is far too minimalist in explaining what the effect of the various settings is. And to top it off the buttons are very unresponsive and know how long to press something to get some effect out of it is guesswork. I reckon about 50% of my button presses on this thing don't result in anything.
@propfella5 жыл бұрын
I thought much the same. I just received 2 of this model and for a change I actually read the manual (Amazing) I finished reading and wished I'd never begun. One omission I found to be odd was lack of info on the LEDs. There was no list telling us what the hell they mean, I thought that would be the most logical thing to include. I'm definitely NOT going to touch anything to get extra voltage, but I can imagine a lot of children trying to get as much as they can out of it. They'll get on KZbin and boast how they pumped extra into a cell and then wonder why it has an early death. If the charger is so smart I'll let it pick the options. By the way, this is my third attempt to buy a decent charger. My previous units were the NiteCore D4 and the NiteCore Intellicharger i4. This one is nothing like the new i4. One other thing I don't like is the sparse displays. Other chargers have more information on a superior digital display. Nitecore has cut corners by making them with minimal displays. I must add this will be the last NiteCore chargers I'll be buying. Both my previous models simply gave up charging. The displays work, but I can have batteries cooking for a complete day and never fully charge. 30 minutes in a much cheaper charger and they charge fully. I would have claimed warranty on them both as neither managed to reach 12 months before failing. The problem was BangGood. I claimed warranty on a soldering iron which failed within a week and they told me I was abusing their system. I spent over $10,000 with them over 4 years and that's how they treat loyalty. I totally agree with your findings Geert. Let's see how well they charge and for how long.

What is the C and V button?
@ninovitor95773 жыл бұрын
Hello. How to use the C and V?
@NitecoreStore2 жыл бұрын
Those buttons have a lot of functions. C is for manually setting the charging current of each slot, while V is for setting the voltage of each slot. charger.nitecore.com/Uploads/FLASHLIGHTS/download/new-i4.pdf You can find them in the user manual here.

Why do I get a red light while charging some of my batters? did I get a fake charger?
@NitecoreStore4 жыл бұрын
The red light indicates which channel is receiving 100% of the current. If one battery is inserted, it will illuminate over the single channel. However, when multiple batteries are inserted the light will only illuminate if only 1 channel is actively charging and receiving 100% of the charging current. For example, one battery is done charging while the second is still charging the red light will illuminate over the active bay. If BOTH are charging, no light will appear because the charging current is split between slots. In short, the red light is a feature to let you know "This slot is receiving 100% of the charging current".

is it possible to discharge to 3.7V for aaa and aa batteries? thanks

You're kidding of course. But please explain how any AA or AAA cell can discharge to 3.7Volts. or 2.7 or even 1.7. You have my attention.

Your charger will not charge 2 Li-ion batteries at 1.5 Amps at the same time!! What is even the point at being able to change the current if you're a dual battery mod user, if it's not any faster? It's bloody pointless to be able to change the current settings if it doesn't allow you to charge the 2 married batteries faster!!

What about the V button?! Very bad explanation
@cody6805 жыл бұрын
Thats the voltage button, After cycling through the slots with the C button, You can hold the V button on the selected slot to change the current from 3.7 to 4.2 to 4.35. Its a little tricky however it has to be moved one at a time. Basically if its on 3.7v stock and you want to get to 4.35v manually. youll have to hold C. cycle through to the slot. hold V to change it. and do it repetitively until you get to the voltage you want, However it is not recommended as the charger is capable of finding the appropriate needs for whatever battery you place in it as long as it meets the list the charger offers.

Hi Bob! I'm sorry to hear the i4 did not live up to your expectations. I was wondering if you could give me some information about what is not to your liking? Alternatively, I would encourage you to reach out to the store you purchased the charger through for support. If it was purchased on Nitecorestore.com, our customer service team can be reached at support@nitecorestore.com.
