Received this pen a few months ago. Popped a Fisher Space Pen refill in with an adaptor. Fits perfectly and works just fine. Best Space Pen ever.

@@MiccaPhone The Fisher Space Pen refill comes with a white plastic adaptor which makes it able to be used in Parker pens or any type of pen which uses that type of refill. I've done the same with Rotring 600 & 800's and they work perfectly.

I have this pen. It's slim and lightweight and seems like a normal pen. The bolt mechanism on mine isn't smooth, it 'grinds' as I use it, not a big deal really but could be a lot better. I hate the refill it comes with but that's an easy fix and a personal choice. IMHO 'tactical' pens really need pressurised, leak-proof write-anywhere refills. I'd like to see some destruction testing with this pen as I'm not convinced it's much more than a medium duty metal-bodied pen. I needed a slimline pen which is why I bought it, it's OK.

FNQ ADV, I hear you- I would recommend a dab of lube in the spring action to possibly smooth it out. I do like the options for ink cartridges and how customizable it is! Do you have any other recommendations for Tactical pens in the $25-$30 price range?
@fnqadv11623 жыл бұрын
@@tacticaltavern Hey mate, I have only recently looking into them. I have the Bastion bolt-action pen, really nice looking and very smooth bolt action but it's big and heavy at around 80g - slightly longer than the NTP31 but much thicker (NTP31 is about 20g). Not a 'tactical' pen per se, but if it all turned to s**t I would rather be holding that one than the NTP31 due to it being much heavier and more solid. That said, it's too thick for my pen pocket at work which is where the NTP31 is good. I have ordered 3 pens from Ali Express, not received them yet. They appear to be the 'source' for some of the branded pens (I won't mention which but not hard to figure out with a few hours of research). From the specs they will be of the bigger/heavier style, one more subtle in appearance and another clearly a 'tactical' pen. The third is a generic 'bolt-action' solid metal pen. They come in well within / under the price range and about half the price of the branded options. I have an old brass bolt-action pen from Ali Express that is a few years old, still works well, about the same size and weight as the Bastion. Very solid. They all use the 'Parker G2' style of refill like the NTP31, there are so many options for those. I would like to find another slimline one similar in size to the NTP31. My requirement is basically a good solid construction that won't snap under stress. The 'glass breaker' to me is a gimmick, how many of us have really had to break car windows? Would be useful as a general striking tip, although hardly any of them are accessible when the pen is in use - that's when I envisage requiring the pen, when I'm writing in a volatile situation and it goes bad and have no time to grab anything else. Hopefully it will never happen.

@@fnqadv1162 I have seen the Bastion Pens and they look robust! I would certainly carry one of those! Also I see your point about the weight of the pens being a factor and if you love a solid built pen I would check out the ones from Tactile Turn -Although a bit higher in the price range I enjoy the glass breaker just to be prepared if there is an emergency such as a car accident or needing to break a window to escape in case of a fire. I think the NTP31 from Nitecore is a great option for dressy carry or office because it doesn’t look like an overbuilt tactical pen But I also did a review on the 5.11 Tactical Double Duty 1.5 which is a very good pen and I carry it frequently in my EDC rotation! Thanks again for watching!

@@fnqadv1162 might be gimmicky but ive used glassbreakers to etch on metal and open cans/tins when the opening thing fails, so its not useless

What I dislike is that you are not really able to use the tungsten tip for the self defense part. The flat part at the end where the tip apears, limits the penetration and if you want to support the hit with a palm from the other side you might hurt yourself. I bought this TP to try but till now I prefer my Wuben TP 10. Good, informative video.

I will have to check that other pen out- this works very well with the carbide down and smooth and the other end makes a very good force multiplier ✅ Thanks for sharing your thoughts 👊🏽

I wonder if the carbide glass breaker qualifies this as a weapon, otherwise, I could probably take this to school because multiple kids also enjoy the Schnider refills.
@tacticaltavern2 жыл бұрын
The glass breaker is a rescue tool that can help save lives. For example a car window or breaking a fire extinguisher glass. I would not consider that a weapon, however check with your local laws and regulations to make sure and follow them.

Thanks for the review. I really like this as this looks like a regular pen, I personally don't like those fancy looking, screaming out loud tac pens. But is this TSA friendly? Safe for carry in or checked in luggage?

I really liked the pen when I started to write with it, but after a few lines of writing the ink thins out and isn't as smooth a writer as I'd first assumed. I'm not happy about "re-writing", or waiting for the ink to catch up to get the previous line density, if I can get it to work correctly. I'm thinking that a different brand refill may be necessary. The bolt is grindy also moving between the pen and glass breaker. $26 is the most I've spent for a single pen to write with. I've had much cheaper pens write better, but having the glass breaker is nice whether I use it or not. I bought the pen to carry daily after breaking the plastic ferrule on several Zebra 301 that I usually carried in my bib overalls after leaning against car fenders or fence rails.
@tacticaltavern Жыл бұрын
I totally understand your concern- one of my pens did something similar and the ink was irregular at best like i had ran over some tacky substance. I would day this only happened once out of the 5 I have used. Most likely an ink issue. Jet Streams are my other favorite daily writing tool... I really just carry this because of the backup glass breaker and robust pen design.
@danbolton3180 Жыл бұрын
@@tacticaltavern I carried the Blackfly Creations tactical pen today while working on the truck, and no broken ferrule like on the Zebra, and it also has a steady ink supply, so maybe I just got a bad cartridge on the Nitecore NTP 31. Would you happen to know what other ink cartridges could be used in the Nitecore pen?

any bend test for this ntp31 vs the titanium version ntp30? I'm afraid it might get bent on my front right pocket inside my alpaca zip card wallet
@tacticaltavern Жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the clip? Or Pen itself?
@winstonramirez1665 Жыл бұрын
@@tacticaltavern Yes I meant the pen itself. I really hope there would be a bend test to check how the ntp31 would fare against the ntp30 being aluminum alloy against titanium alloy. I'm not sure how much percentage of metal went into those alloys so I can't be just certain that the titanium will be more resistant to bending.
