Finally a Nito-Ryu fight with two opponents with equally dual weapons, instead of the person with two weapons versus the other with just a single sword.

Fun as usual! Also really interesting to see that the reverse grip has a serious practical advantage (not to be overlooked even if you sacrifice the cutting capacity).

It was fun to see how four blades changed the dynamic of the fight, very cool!

I think foot work is super important in this type of dual. Either boxing your opponent into a corner or creating space to maneuver. I'd be interested to see the same type of dual with the both of you using 2 full size Katana swords.

Naturally you want to keep the swords separated or they'll crash into each other so your center is very open and vulnerable to thrusts. I'd often use one to distract and attack with the other, my other sword would only be slightly shorter and ultimately I found that if I kept one out front and one in reserve it worked better. I found that thrust were generally best and cuts to the lower body, I used a lot of non-committed thrust to fake my opposite out and create openings for the second sword. I often found that fencing like thrusts to the center were it's weakness.

Some of her strikes were very direct and exceptional They were similar to concepts of fencing I also like the low faint with the katana looking to draw force and then a quick strike with the wakizashi

In some Native American martial arts systems for tomahawk and knife, the knife is held in the left hand in a reverse grip for hooking, controlling, and slashing limbs and the neck - besides obviously for stabbing. The knife is usually a large knife, but nowhere near as large as a wakizashi. Their knives wouldn't be large enough to be as effective as a wakizashi for defense, but the wakizashi is too long for the other aforementioned purposes. It is my understanding that a tanto would have also been carried by those who carried both a katana and a wakizashi. I wonder how a match like this would be affected, if the swordsmen also had a tanto accessible on them during the fight?

wouldn't be the same without the music, sound effects and fake blood, so I'm glad you added them. It really was fun to watch

My problem with this fight is that they don't show any reaction when the oponent has a death blow, not even a delayed one. Wich, to me, makes this fight loose credibility and raise the suspicion of it be a fake.

Sword Art Online kinda tech needs 2 b a thing, minus da "death IRL for death in-game," of course. Arts such as dis could b practiced at full strength, tho ur in dat VR world! I mean... seeing these kinda vids and other "style vs style" sparring/competition vids and events; it genuinely needs 2 b a thing!

Hey, could you guys come up with an affiliate or sponsor for this kind of gear and maybe a video on bare minimum essentials for equipment we would need to get into this kind of sparring?
@jhl3653
@jhl3653 Жыл бұрын
Our dojo tried using these same foam bokken. They are inappropriately light, giving a false impression of your actual ability to move a shinken in the same way under such circumstances. They are also far too floppy upon impact. This means you cannot deploy important foundational techniques in kenjutsu (e.g. deflections and parries) which would not be noticed by kendoka. We no longer use these foam bokken. The rest of their gear is just kendo bogu.
@hantu7380
@hantu7380 Жыл бұрын
@@jhl3653 they aren't foam bokken but the polypropylene bokken. The armor that they use is called bogu. Which consits of men (mask), do (torso), tare (thigh protection), kote (forearm protection) and sometimes by different budo there are sune-ate (shin protection) in naginata or kata (shoulder protection) in jukendo. you can buy it at tozando or zennihonbudogu though you should probably learn kendo/naginata/jukendo/tankendo to use it effectively and against someone. The clothes are a kendogi (shirt/jacket) and the "pants" hakama.
