T&F Episode Commentaries - Four Little Engines

Skarloey, Rheneas, Sir Handel and Peter Sam are the main four on the narrow gauge railway. Skarloey is the best known but he's having trouble. Will he prove himself?

Regarding Skarloey's condition, I'd say he's still usable, but restricted to light work, but he worked the train as it was an emergency. In the book, it's said that Peter Sam was unavailable, and with Sir Handel put out of action by the coaches, that just left Skarloey. Incidentally, after Skarloey's spring broke, they simulated the effect by simply putting his body on crooked. You can tell because his cylinders remain horizontal, even though they should be tilted too.

Yeah I noticed that his frame was still level with the rails XD Amazing how a little imagination goes when you're young and how believable it looks.

I wish they made Skarloey Remembers and Old Faithful separately. If they merged this with A Bad Day for Sir Handel and kept Old Faithful a separate episode, I think it would work better.

I think with the why the coaches respect skarloey and not sir Handel is kind of your he’s the king idea to use yet another film analogy (oh wow I should stop comparing them to film characters haha) but basically I see skarloey and the respect he has on his railway like how the animal kingdom respect muffasa they know that he will always try to do the right thing and try his best for the railway he might not always succeed but they know he is an engine with a pure heart, therefore when he tells them off it’s like he’s shaming them for being problematic which as with everything on sodor, they want to be useful not problem causers (ignoring various diesels) Also correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think skarloey was meant to be somewhere else I think he was being fully repaired but he and the workers knew that there was more of a chance of skar managing it than sir Handel and so they let him try, which is also why when he crashes they say something like oh we can get help for you and he replies no I’ll do it or burst. Something I also sometimes wonder is if skar hadn’t of tried would they have fully repaired him or just let him collect dust I feel like once he proved how determined he was they knew they needed to repair a great engine like him Sorry for the long comment didn’t mean to make it this long and who knows if it even makes sense haha!

I mean at this point it's all speculation. But nevertheless, I enjoy comments like this because it makes you think and it's fun to postulate. Keep those thoughts coming! =) Crazy idea: Someone creates a channel like Game/Film Theory except for Thomas only. The channel,.....Sodor Theory lol XD

The reason Skarloey runs even though he is not suppose to is, if I remember correctly, that no other engines were avalible and he was the closest to working order to help

This Episode, While Nice, Is A Retcon To The Next Episode. It Should Be "A Bad Day For Sir Handel" Then This Episode. The Same Is With "Paint Pots & Queens". This Episode Is Nice By It's Self, But In A Marathon, This Episode Is In A Weird Place. Also I Think The Scene Were Edward Passes By Oliver & One Of The Scottish Twins, Was Filmed Before, During Or After Toad Stands By. I Mean Duck,Thomas,Oliver & Maybe Douglas Appear. The Scene Of "The Fat Man In The Black Top Hat'' Talking To Edward Also Has The Black Unnamed Tankers In The Same Spot As When The Narrator Says, "...But He Felt Dreadfully Nervous Inside." Also At The End, Douglas Is In Same Spot.
