I agree with joeprice3882 ! You need to have the air filter installed to protect the carb , the carb pulls in clean air as it runs , anything, dirt , grass , pebbles, dust gets into your carb it can damage your engine! That engine cost over $200 to replace, also that is part of the reason why you are having a difficult time , pulling the starter rope to get the engine to fire 🔥 up ! I own 5 Traxxas Nitros, been in the hobby for 25 years, take my advice it will save you from having to shell out money and have to buy replacement parts , also clean the whole buggy with Simple Green to keep it clean and spray all moving parts except inside the engine, with Silicone Blaster , my Nitro's run and look like their still New ! Good luck 🍀 remember it's better to prime it and get fuel to the carb while holding your finger over the exhaust stinger and not the carb

Where's your air filter? Never run nitro without an air filter. Sounds unhealthy... you have junk in your engine built up because of it. Then you put the filter on when it's fired and haul tail back and forth... no warm up?
