I'm new to Nitro stuff and didn't know that wd40 was bad since I've seen people recommend it. I will stop using it now. Thanks for a great video!
@thebug40462 жыл бұрын
A lot of people will recommend it because they don't understand how the product works or is designed. it is designed as a water dispersant 40 which is the formula number. It is a solvent and a very poor lubricant the best stuff to use is Lucas air tool oil and keep in mind you don't need to use every time you run as it will make it harder to start same goes with any after run product. When you are finished running for the day let your car or truck run out of fuel till it will no longer start let it cool and you can let it sit like that for quite some time if you plan on letting it sit for more than a week then yes use your after run oil air tool oil like I'd mentioned before is great since it is a actual lubricant as well as a corrosion inhebiter.

Yo I’m new to this I have a hpi fire storm I took it apart earlier only the pull start an the peace covering the inside of the engine an it was a tad rusty i sprayed wd and left it to dry a bit then lubricated it after with after run oil getting most of the rust I found out too the compression seems good you think it’ll still run or if there’s anything else I should do I replaced the glow plug I have some fuel coming on Monday
@thebug4046 Жыл бұрын
Depending on how bad it was in there sometimes you might want to strip the engine completely down and replace the bearings if they're really gritty feeling but if it wasn't bad if it wasn't bad if it wasn't really light then you should be able to get away with it those engines aren't very expensive to replace anyways

Here's a mental thought, can I rebuild my engine using gun oil? Cleaning it, can I use (GT 85)?
@thebug40463 жыл бұрын
Not sure about GT85 just use a actual oil engine oil is like 5$ or so

Just to let everyone know if you own a Traxxas Nitro , in every Nitro Manual it does state you can use WD-40 to lubricate and remove moisture inside the engine ! The Traxxas designers obviously must of did bench tests and proved it can be used ! I personally use After Run Oil , like Bug404 says WD 40 can be used in a water submerged engine to remove the water and prevent rust and permanent damage! Another tip , if you to have clean the inside of your fuel tank , flush it out with rubbing alcohol, do not use water or a cleaning detergent!
@thebug4046 Жыл бұрын
WD40 OK At it's intended purpose of being a moistered displacer but you have to flush out not leave it sitting in the engine. Lucas air tool oil Is actually a corrosion inhibitor as well as a rust preventative it works much better as it's designed to be used in moist environments from compressed air and it's actually a real lubricant not mostly solvent like WD40

No brake cleaner ? Use air intake cleaner?
@thebug40462 жыл бұрын
Brake cleaner is what I use. Don't worry about intake cleaner it won't really help you because they changed the way it works now and it's like trying to clean oil with water absolutely garbage

i always found it impressive that when crashing into the ground a mile away at full power you can hear the impact and the engine rev from the fuel getting pushed tru it in a split second. then when you get there a totally harmonica shaped fueltank stand there wawing at you with a couple sillicone fuel hoses. rest is just crushed to powder. our rc airstrip was on millitary terrain and ground was packed hard from years of driving tanks and stuff. only thing surviving was elevator and left wing rudder. even engine was cracked and bent backwards. everything was destroyed.

I’ve never used after run oil i always just run it till it dies so most if not all the fuel is burnt off
@LionelGuy-oc8or Жыл бұрын
Totally agree , I’ve been running Nitro’s for years , can’t run gasoline, Diesel, WD 40 , etc , these engines will only operate correctly on Nitro fuel , wrong information out there, you absolutely will destroy your nitro engine ! Like he says there are a lot of dumb videos out there showing off trying to impress everyone with their stupid ideas ! If you destroy for example a Traxxas 3.3 nitro engine, it will cost you $220 for a new one ! Nitro can get expensive

WD 40 is good for your 1 way bearing in my opinion. It never goes in the engine, aside from that wd 40 needs to stay far away from a nitro

i flew model planes almost 30 years ago. back then people made some jet engines out of the old round nilfisk vaacuum cleaners. ran a mix of 20% gasoline and 80 % diesel. started them up with lighter gas. crazy times. a gallon of fuel lasted like 4 minutes. unlike my own regular rc plane than drank around 2 dl in 50 minutes. they used the original turbine and modified it. no clue what they did. i was 14 at that time and not so interested in the build phase. just the flying.

You can convert nitro engines to rc Diesel with a different head
@thebug40465 жыл бұрын
There's no manufacturer that does not anymore. I remember when that happened back in the late 90s early 2000s and it was a flop very low performing and a lot of broken connecting rods and destroyed fuel systems.
