I've installed a Nitron R1 shock with remote preload adjustment on my Versys 1000 and am very pleased with it. Much better than the stock shock.

I'm a total newbie to motorcycling. I don't even own a bike yet, though I recently placed a deposit on one. Anyway, this was a very interesting and well explained video. Thanks for posting it. Cheers!

Nitron shocks are the best out there. Yes you could spend $10,000 and get the equivalent for the big "O" but why? I've been running the Nitron triple adjustable for my Yamaha XSR900 for several months now and it's awesome. If you're into quality and performance this is a company to go with. Customer service was awesome as well. Please note that the big "O" is not Lenny having an orgasm over this stuff!

I have an FZ09. what was it like going to the Nitron? I'm thinking of going Adreani (sp?) cartridges and the Nitron shock from a local dealer.

Thanks Lemmy - a great explanation of the Nitron range. Appreciated!

This stuff is so much easier to get and find Suspension experts in the states it seems 😁 In Germany those experts are quite hard to come by and most of our distributors have wilbers and Öhlins. which are definitely awesome suspension but I really like Nitron esthetically and build quality wise. Wish it would be more common here. But most people here just buy the bike and leave it as it is. My dad's bike is a 2007 FZ1 Yamaha and I think the Shock of Front suspension never saw any kind of service. Totally normal here 😅

Lemmy, as a new rider, I really have no clue as to what rebound, compression and preloading mean and do. I haven't bought my first motorcycle yet, and I'm now looking at an F800GT, with ESA. I assume that Nitron, or the 'Gold colored guys' aren't going to work with ESA, so that gets trashed. I'm not really sure if that is such a good idea, either, but, like you, I'm a big boy and I plan on carrying a couple of saddle bags worth of stuff and a full top box as well. It's probably going to put total, all up weight at over 300 pounds. So, an upgrade may be in store. I would REALLY love to see a Common Tread on the basics of aftermarket upgrades like this aimed at people who don't know about them. Thanks for all your great videos, I love them all!

Lemmy wrote an article on Harley Suspension, but the general information will also apply to other motorcycles. If getting the ESA, you won't want to completely swap the suspension. You may just need to get slightly stiffer fork and rear springs. You could probably get away with just running in rider+passenger mode with the stock suspension. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/harley-suspension-201

Are there big disadvantages in going for the R1 (on a 2018 MT-09, only road riding)? The price difference for the R2 is considerable, and I'm not sure how necessary it is to have compression and rebound adjusted separately. Also, isn't preload something that you usually set only once? I maintain my weight and I never ride with a pillion. Thanks.
@RevZilla6 жыл бұрын
No, for street riding, the R1 is a great option. As for preload, you'd only need to set it once if you aren't riding with a passenger or carrying a lot of luggage. -DrewZilla

is an R6 front end at all compatable with an fz-07? head tube lenght and diamater? it needs to be stiffer and more confident in the corners but i cant justify rebuilding the stock forks. any input?
@RevZilla8 жыл бұрын
I don't have all the details, but it seems R6 forks are much different in length. Here's a good thread of different FZ-07 fork changes. -DrewZilla *fz07.org/thread/1920/fork-upgrades-compatible-swaps

Nitron R1 vs. Ohlins for my CBR 300R? Nitron is $300 more expensive at $700
@RevZilla8 жыл бұрын
If you can afford the Nitron, get it. The Nitron offers both compression and rebound adjustment, while I believe the Ohlins only allows rebound adjustment. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/nitron-r1-shock-honda-cbr300r-cbr250r
