I've watched allot of tuning videos for nitro. This is the first one I've seen that explains everything in a way that is easily understandable for a newbie. Thank you very much for making this video. I'm confident now that I can get my RS4 Evo up and running finally.

Thank you. Finally someone who knows wtf they are expressing and teaching other people. No - one ever talks about the pinging/ detonation on these motors. Nitro is hard to tune, but once you hit that sweet spot...hold on!!

I really appreciate how in the detail and the examples that you give, most videos that say the basics don't give you a clue of information when you just need the actual basics. This is step by step the true basics and I do appreciate your time that you took on it

I actually read the entire trx 3.3 manual and learned the importance of cleaning air filter after every hour of use (serious, it’s a big deal) dish soap then air filter oil and your good to go. I also learned that after every run if your are going to store for more than 3 hours go ahead and spray 1sec burst WD-40 straight into open carb and into glow plug hole crank engine 10sec and repeat 2x more times. (Serious, WD-40 in the manual) Starts up great after this treatment and more importantly it gets all the nitro out of the engine so it doesn’t attract water and rust bearings out and such.

It's the low speed you need to richen to get rid of the pinging because as you say yourself it controls the amount of fuel from low to mid throttle, when you let off the throttle after getting up to speed it's the low speed that controls how much of the overall fuel from the high speed gets into the engine. If the low speed is too lean you can keep richen in the high speed but it will still starve of fuel when you let off the throttle

when your leaning the lsn and your idle rises, with in mind you have a huge 1mm gap, you should lower your gap. i usually use half of what you use and your idle is way high. very good video man, really good for beginners if they just lower the gap a smidge :p

Nitro is much more involved and takes patience and attention. It’s also much more exciting then electrics IMO. Electrics have come a long way from back in the 80’s and can rip, but for real motor heads there is nothing like gas or nitro. This video is a great resource for newbies getting into nitros, and once they get it I guarantee they will sell or ignore most or all of their electrics. It’s kind of sad that electrics have kind of pushed out fuel powered cars and trucks, and actual kit building, but today’s generation is much more about immediate gratification, and RTR. At least RC is still alive and kicking.

The biggest problem we ran into,was air leaks. Usually after a couple big wrecks,the carb will start to loosen and run ruff. If you seal the carb throttle body with regular silicone to the engine,fuel line nipples and the air mixture screws with teflon tape. Your air fuel mixture and engine will run consistently. Then we hosed clamped out exhaust pipes together,for durability.

@FarmerFpv2 жыл бұрын
A couple things you did wrong here. The engine should not climb in RPM then drop when you blip the throttle. This is because it is lean on the mid fuel delivery. You did not compensate for the low needle adjustments. When you lean out the low end on a 2 needle carb you must also richen then high end needle in order to get the mid level fuel delivery to stay consistent throughout the rpm range. With a three needle carb that has a mid range needle you adjust the mid end needle to get a flat idle curve so it doesn't rise and fall when you blip the throttle. When you blip the throttle the engine should rev and then drop immediately to idol otherwise it's lean at the top from over leaning the low end needle.
