I remember hearing this first way back in 1985. We in the UK was just getting to know about Nitty Gritty. Tenor Saw had already come through with his hit, *"Pumpkin Belly"* on the Sleng Teng, number one riddim of 1985. The same year also saw Anthony Red Rose take Jamaica by storm with *"Tempo,"* the original for this riddim. Red Rose and King Tubbys had the riddim built *BEFORE* Jammys' Sleng Teng in late 1984, but held back the release to see how Wayne Smith's mega hit would do in the dancehalls. That proved the crowd were ready for digital reggae riddims. Tenor Saw, Nitty Gritty, King Kong, Red Rose were the new style of singer that was emerging and has never been bettered since.

It's kind of traditional mento song. The lyric and music of Prince Glen and Nitty Gritty are different, so it's not a cover

I love this song and riddim. What’s the name of this riddim? I heard this song is based off an old Jamaican saying. If anyone can break it down for me that would be s good look.
@Coleman_H5 жыл бұрын
It's on a different version of the Tempo Riddim made by King Jammy's. On the meaning of Hog Inna Mi Minty: "A Jamaican folk song about a person telling another that he sees their hog trespassing and digging out his minty coco* and that they should take action. However, this folk song is more than what it appears to say; and is actually sung to reveal the secret love affair of that person’s girlfriend which was discovered by chance."
