King of Iran was patriot and wanted to reform the country but some big guys in the world did not like it.

Where is your evidence? He kept the most moderate of people in prison (like Bakhtiar and the rest of Jebhe Melli), he even closed two parties closest to the power elite (Iran Novin and Mardom), and he personally interfered in the most basic affairs to do with individual thinking, shutting all independent sources of thought and culture down culminating in religion taking power. His megalomaniac attitude and obsession for power did untold damage to the progress of Iran. History will never forgive him, apart from a bunch of ignorant people, and those who miss the shiny military equipment sold to him at an inflated price by US with 60,000 US military personnel running the show.

I am taking a US History class with this book as one of the reads. I found this interview to be very helpful after reading the book and becoming overwhelmed with all the information. The book was well written, but this interview helped me understand the situation better.

1:06:10 when he mentions the Clinton administration coming very close to rebuilding ties with Iran, did Nixon play any role in this? I've heard Clinton often called Nixon for support on foreign affairs.

Well, obviously not a lot of people have taken this talk and specially the comments below very seriously, understandably so. Those who still do not see the dynamics of 1953 power struggles and the Iranian oil nationalization and its direct link to the thuggery in the streets of Iran directed by CIA/MI6 culminating in the Shah ceasing power, and merely confining their opinions to the Iranian constitution are lying to themselves. US/UK policies decades after the 1953 event throughout the world should be clear enough as to what really happened in Iran.

With Salutations to the memory of President Richard Nixon, I watched 18 minutes of this video and found Dr. Alvandi's knowledge of this subject matter to be not very impressive, nor was it extensively comprehensive. I learned absolutely nothing new, and in fact I found Dr. Alvandi to be somewhat of a nonexpert in this category. I can give a number of examples and reasons for my opinion of Dr. Alvandi's knowledge base, but most importantly, regarding Dr. Alvandi's view and knowledge of the 1953 dismissal of Mr. Mossadegh, it became very clear to me that Dr. Alvandi is quite misinformed about Iranian history. In other words, anyone who has a minimal understanding of the 1953 events in Iran, knows that there was no coup against Mr. Mossadegh. Mr. Mossadegh was removed constitutionally, and in fact, it was Mr. Mossadegh who committed a coup d'état on August 16, 1953. Ironically, that was the third of a series of coup d'états which Mr. Mossadegh committed in his 28 month tenure as premiere of Iran. Regards Majid Afarani

All historians and the US itself agreed that there was a US/UK coup against Mossadeq, Obama even apologised for it and the declassified CIA documents confirm it. It's not even disbuted. I bet you think Khomeini was a British spy too.

I gotta say I have to agree with you on this. Most of what he talked about I have already known for quite some time. Nothing new at all but maybe that's not his fault

1 looper 1 looper You show that you know nothing at all about politics and history if you think Obama is a Marxist, and your’re a conspiracy theorist if you think Mossadeq wanted to kill the Shah. Mossadeq’s generals wanted him to use violence and he refused, he said ”are you mad? We are not in the business of killing people”. He was an anti-communist too. And even if Shah could dismiss the PM (ambiguous in the circumstances) it’s a coup because the CIA bribed military and CIA thugs like Shaban bimokh used force to arrest the government. This is the view of established mainstream historians, not Marxists, and the evidence is too obvious. Mossadeq dissolved parliament as he was allowed to do because it was a national emergency, the country was almost invaded and a clear coup against the government was on its way. I don’t need book recommendations, I was taught by the leading experts. You probably want me to support the mullah enabling monarchist view who gifted the country to Khomeini by funding reactionary seminaries. Say hi to your failed president Trump from me.

Wow! Only Americans may think Alvandi’s book is a good read! The book and his responses to the questions shows the superficiality of this guest!

This gentleman, your guest, is a historical revisionist. Mosadegh was not what this man portrays him as. He was not an ally of the US, more of one to the USSR. He, against the Iranian constitution of the day, disband the congress and was party to the murder of an appointed prime minister. Best described as an Islamic Marxist and a traitor, not a hero. Please choose your guests carefully. I bet that your guest, or his family, have Communist tendencies. Maybe his family were supporters of either the People's Front or the Todeh Party at the time, two of the worst terrorist and Marxist organizations of that day. I don't know, but Mosadegh supporters are usually from that ilk... You can not find truth interviewing revisionists.
