This is an awesome demo into NixOS! I'm using Arch but planning to switch to NixOS. Thanks for the final push. I understand it much more now.

I enjoy NixOS, and am trying to use it more around my home network - it's really neat to bring over a TEXT FILE and reproduce a system... I might cover nix flakes and home-manager in the future; more advanced NixOS ways of managing Nix systems. Lemme know if you'd like anything in particular!! :P

B00M! I was thinking of some other bombs, but... easy peasy to kill her off with a --no-preserve-root. :P Cheers, mL!

Great vid! hope it has more reach. I learnt most of this stuff painfully explained. Wish I saw this video before all that.

Why thanks a lot - I'm an intermediate Linux user, but really love playing around with tech - it's nice to hear that someone digs my blurbs!! Cheers!

Excellent video for those having not so experience in linux. Please make a tutorial on home manager. Thanks.

NixOS is short on this type of tutorial content overall so it's good this exists

Can you use nix os as a at home desktop operating system?
@techheart609010 ай бұрын
100% - I suggest trying on some extra hardware first, or a VM but nixOS prefers hardware... it's really great.

Yeah, I've been using it for over a year now as a home desktop OS. Literally made me stop distro hopping

Something I noticed during the explosion: `rm: cannot remove '/nix/store/...': Read-only file system` Even before regenerating the system from the ashes, NixOS _still_ had the last laugh. It would've been interesting to see how much would've been left prior to the reinstall.
