So I can give the email to others so they can send photos to the frame and they will automatically show up, or do the photos have to approved somehow? Also, is there a monthly fee or any other cost besides purchase price?

Yep! There is no approval process as - hopefully - you're only giving access to people who will send appropriate images! That said, not just anyone can email images to your frame. The default in settings is that you must approve all new senders before their photos appear on your frame. You also control which album they share to. One frame can show multiple albums or you can have different frames showing different albums. I'm using the standard plan, which is free. It lets me upload 5GB of images/videos, have up to 5 frames, and have up to 5 shared albums. That said, there are two other plans if you want more storage, control more frames/albums and want to get fancier like edit the photos in the app and broadcast to your TV. I'm not going to name the prices here as those change, but their website only shows the more expensive Nixplay Plus plan. On the app, I also see a Nixplay Lite plan that is half the plus plan. And, oddly enough, the plus plan is $10 cheaper on the app than on their website 🤷‍♀

I had no idea how much I'd love this. I barely glance at the framed photos on my shelves and walls, but I glance at this all the time because it's always showing a different memory every time I look. I also constantly add to it after family trips to keep the shuffled album fresh. And I use it for the clock feature too!
