Listen as a bus operator, passengers will call in and complain for sitting in traffic (doing the right thing) & the transit takes their side over ours it goes on our records as a complaint. Some drivers want to keep the people happy so they don’t get assaulted on the job like I got over a drunk passenger. He broke my neck & right shoulder, because he fell asleep and missed his stop. It’s changed my life & yes I recovered after so much obstacles and back to driving the bus which I love and see the passengers I pick up. We have to get people to point A to B in a timely manner based on the unrealistic schedule we’re supposed to do it in. They want people to get out of their cars & ride public to save emissions and traffic on the road ways. A lot of this to blame on elected officials & the DOT construction of roadways, it’s terrible and obsolete. Not built for the 21st century. It’s a wonder we make it the way we do everyday I wouldn’t have drove over the divider like he did with the bus or even my own car, but I can understand why. Maybe he has a short turn around on the other side & no meal or bathroom time. The life span for a bus operator is only 5 years after retiring, a lot of drivers I know have had hip replacement, back surgeries, etc. Stress is probably number 1, some drivers are mean & not talkative because they get burned by the public, people lying, stealing the fare, not following policy, etc. I’ve seen drivers families torn apart guys have breakdowns etc. It’s not easy career, but than there isn’t any easy careers out there, everything has its obstacles. Such is life, do with a smile on your face even when you don’t want to sometimes, it helps the next person out!

My Academy bus driver did that once and I was really happy he said that the cars were in his lane. they had been routed incorrectly. I cannot for the life of me imagine why they would be doing construction or rerouting of these routes at any time during rush hour whatsoever!
