I hear you all but then again this are interesting times to be alive. It's true we've lost our culture and embraced another. Mwendi gatungu (ì kagwacì) nì mùkeenjeri. Koguo rì, aarì na aariu a baba, nì tùkejere nìamu no ithuì twarì kuo na no ithuì aya. No rùrìcoka mùkaro. Thaayu.
Nyũmba ya mwarĩ witũ igitĩtwo na ithanjĩ ( not icango - brass) na icũthi cia ng'ombe. Ttranslated- my sister's house is thatched with papyrus reeds and the whisk of a cow. Those olden days the mũgĩkũyũ house was thatched with rũthiru, then grass and the walls were mud masked with a smooth finish of ash mixed with cow-dung. The huts were circular in shape with a stick protruding at the top like a lightning arrestor.

The composer tries to illustrate that his sister is married to a very rich man. Imagine of a house thatched with cow whisks. How many cows would slaughter to just cover a 1M², now imagine half or the entire roofing. There is more literature than just words

Timothy, the name is a noun. So, it doesn't change, we are "Gikuyu" not "Kikuyu". Cultural champions should start a campaign to revert to "Gikuyu".
