Everyone in the comments talking about Razer/Pussycat and the big talking point was - who the hell let the House Robots off the leash in that Mayhem? Killertron should have got that for all the little they did - my champion of that match was Aggrobot, ironically going out in the same way Razer broke down against them in S3. But Splinter... that was rolled over. Then Dead Metal came in (un-needed) and Killalot took Killertron to the pit... mayhem indeed, but not what I would call fair.

You're not wrong. I feel almost sorry for killertron, its basically a series 1/2 high contender (though slightly modified, or it wouldn't have been as heavy) put into the ring with the series 4.5 big boys. Dead metal had no right to attack aggro before he was considered immobile and because of that unfair stepping in, splinter was also rolled back over. Killertron's win in my eyes too.

Killertron should have won that Mayhem melee. It's bad enough that Killertron was pitted by a House Robot when it wasn't counted out, immobile or even in a CPZ. But what's worse is that it doesn't even matter in any case - before then, Splinter was turned over, couldn't self-right and should've been counted out. But it was righted by Dead Metal when it wasn't in the CPZ, therefore it shouldn't have been allowed. God, Refbot penalised Dead Metal firmly in the previous episode, but here was just like "Ah, fuck it - do as you like"! And Aggrobot 3 _was_ rightly counted out, meaning that Killertron was the only robot left that should've still been in the competition. I think it's a real shame that Killertron's exit from Robot Wars was the team getting fucked out of a battle they should've won. If I was on the team, I would've been pissed at the judges for not taking action against that blatant unfairness.

The early 2000s were wild. But this show, both the US and UK versions, KICKED ASS. Idk why, but engineered robots that took months to build, being beaten to shit in mere minutes (or in Spider’s case, seconds) is super satisfying to watch.

Kind of amazing how they have the plaques behind the battle boxes to show which team's robot is in battle in the arena. That's a detail I really hope they add in the next series they do that's similar to Robot Wars. Also, the Fourth Wars fight between Razer and Pussycat was like in a cartoon where when someone gets angry, it's like: "GRRRRRRRRRRRRGH...." *whooo!*

Is it just me or is the Razer vs Pussycat Vengeance battle the only Vengeance battle that had a serious rivalry between them?
@ryanodonovan9497
@ryanodonovan9497 4 жыл бұрын
No, because the rivalry wasn't serious. It's true that Ian was frustrated about Pussycat's persistent attacks against Razer after the latter was immobilised (hence his absence from that battle's following interview), but it was all in the heat of the moment and he moved on from it shortly after. The producers just made the teams act up on it here for the sake of entertainment as though it was a professional wrestling storyline. It was a Vengeance battle in presentation only - it wasn't a legitimate grudge. The real reason this rematch happened was because both Team Razer and Team Cold Fusion just wanted there to be a winner with no flukes involved (which is what previously happened to Razer), and they got what they wanted in the end.

Razer was so good that it only ever really lost on a technical issue or Tornado's infamous, controversial judge's victory. Pussycat were a superb robot but would never beat technically sound Razer.

That fight with Wild Thing vs Dominator 2 is probably the only time I've seen that disc of Wild Thing actually do any damage. Credit to the team, though, they perfectly executed the tactic they said they would do. Often when teams say they have a plan, it goes right out of the window as soon as "activate" is called, but with Wild Thing they said they were going for the tyres and that's exactly what they did. And the disc actually did damage, amazingly, even if that was mostly just to the wheels. 3 Stegs to Heaven is really a poor replacement for Steg 2 imo. It doesn't look much better and it's far worse than Steg 2, which I think would have done better against Tornado. I love seeing Killertron, and up until Killalot got involved, I reckon they would have won. By series 4, Killertron is sadly an antique for the most part, as the pickaxe just isn't powerful at the time of Extreme being filmed and they don't have a srimech. But they managed to outlast Aggrobot, and had Killalot not gotten involved, Killertron was looking to be the winner for me. As for poor Razer, well, they just can't beat Pussycat! Sad to see every time, but at least they have a happy ending in series 5 by finally winning the thing!

I was pissed as a child when Razer was unable to crush Pussycat to death. If it was me driving Razer, I would've just chucked Pussycat into the pit the moment I grabbed it. No fucking around - I'd just finish the thing off and get the win. Still, at least I can respect Pussycat for getting the win against Razer fair and square on their second encounter because of driving and accurate aggression. Also, that Mayhem battle was complete bullshit. Never mind the fact that Killertron was unfairly pitted by Sir Killalot when the former wasn't immobile or in a CPZ and not given any kind of compensation for it - it should've won as soon as Splinter was overturned! Aggrobot 3 was rightfully counted out for being stuck off the ground by its lifter, but Splinter shouldn't have been righted. Apparently Dead Metal and Refbot intervened because it looked like Aggrobot 3 was pinning Splinter down. No, it wasn't. Firstly, Dead Metal wasn't needed to perform a separation when Refbot can already do that himself. And secondly, it was obvious that Splinter couldn't have self-righted from that angle whether pinned there or not. And it became additionally clear afterwards why Aggrobot 3 didn't move away. Hell, Killertron even yanked the former back a notch which must've further showed that no illegal pin was happening.

Looking at the All-Stars line-up in Extreme 1, three robots that I don't agree with being in the tournament were X-Terminator, Wild Thing and 3 Stegs 2 Heaven. Not only did none of them win any trophies, but prior to Extreme 1 they only ever beat newcomers without faring much better against veterans. And however good their weaponry was, it's not like there weren't others in the tournament that did better. It's not to say that these three weren't effective in combat - I just don't see how they were among the most famous. I would've replaced the three of them with Bigger Brother, Plunderbird 5 and Sir Chromalot. Bigger Brother, whilst being about as successful as the three mentioned robots that were included, at least had more popularity from Joe Watts being the most recognisable among the children who took part. And I know Plunderbird 5 and Sir Chromalot were less effective in combat than all four of the others I mentioned, but then so was Díotóir, yet they had sufficient popularity to enter. Were the International Wreck Crew and The Hub Nuts not the same in that regard for how they stood out with their entertainment? I just think that the All-Stars tournaments should've been for robots that were popular for whatever reason, whether it was their weaponry and/or trophies they'd gained, or separate entertainment for the audience to go along with. Also, it's absolute fucking bullshit Killertron lost in this episode's Mayhem. Never mind the fact Sir Killalot shouldn't have pitted it when it wasn't immobile or in a CPZ, the battle should've ended before it got to that point, because while Aggrobot was rightfully counted out for being immobile, the same should've been done to Splinter when it was overturned and not put back on its wheels by Dead Metal when it wasn't in a CPZ either. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the reason the Killertron team never returned after getting fucked over like that.

3 Stegs To Heaven were former Grand Finalists and Wild Thing were two time Series Semi Finalists. Pretty famous robots and teams too, especially Wild Thing X-terminator was also a returning semi finalist and a strong performing heat finalist in Series 3. I wouldn't say they didn't deserve to be All Stars, though I agree, they were one of the weaker links. Bigger Brother is a fair shout, but I think its dismal Series 4 run put an end to any hope they had of being an All Star robot. And whilst Plunderbird and Sir C were entertaining as ever, I think the All Stars was meant for more serious competition. Diotoir was let in, but that's a robot that could still fight well (which it proved in Ext 1 and Series 5) but by this point Sir C and Plunderbird were way too outdated to be taken seriously as All Star robots. One I'm shocked didn't make the cut was Spawn Again. Big huge flipper from a team that are two time semi finalist and also great sports. Seems odd they got missed out.

@@andersonhill3484 I can't believe I didn't think of Spawn Again myself. I would definitely have had them replace one of the three I didn't agree with. Regarding Bigger Brother, it's lack of luck in Series 4 is not something I consider a fair reason to exclude them, considering that it was only when the pneumatic system was broken through none of Bulldog Breed's doing. Maybe the All-Stars competition _was_ meant for more serious competition, of which X-Terminator, 3 Stegs 2 Heaven and Wild Thing could give far more of than Sir Chromalot and Plunderbird 5. I just think of such a name being reserved for the most popular of robots for whatever reason. I didn't see what made the former three mentioned robots stand out that way, but that's just me.

@@ryanodonovan9497 The only one I agree with was X-Terminator because it took until series 7 for X-Terminator to finally make a name of it self. Also I disagree with your statement to Wild Thing and Steg. Because have you forgotten Wild Thing's fight against Hypno-Disc where while damage still kept fighting until time ran out or Steg's victory over Beast of Bodmin second bot of the first champions also did Bigger Brother, Plunderbird and Sir Chromalot have any famous battle at that time?
@ryanodonovan9497
@ryanodonovan9497 Жыл бұрын
@@davidkerr7350 Maybe not famous battles, but famous personalities that were identifiable, which the teams of the other robots didn't have. I just think when the tournament is titled 'All-Stars' that it should be for robots that are the most popular and recognisable, whether it's because of their battle history _or_ their seasoned entertainment factor. I just didn't see that in X-Terminator, Wild Thing and 3 Stegs 2 Heaven for reasons I already explained (and that you explained in X-Terminator's case). And it's all very well that Wild Thing had the durability to survive against Hypno-Disc to take the battle to a judges' decision, but guess what? The former still lost. Bigger Brother was the proper example of surviving against Hypno-Disc, though that came later on. And even though Steg-O-Saw-Us beat the same team that won Series 1, it was still a different robot to Roadblock, and 3 Stegs 2 Heaven was a different robot to Steg-O-Saw-Us. If the team brought back Steg 2, maybe. At least that follow-up had some success in battle. But 3 Stegs 2 Heaven was new hadn't been properly tested in the main competition.

@@ryanodonovan9497If your gonna include Bigger Brother victory over Hypno-Disc then you should also mention Wild Thing’s close battle with Chaos 2 because that’s regard as one of the best fights in the series plus famous matches don’t also have end In victory remember Splinter lost against Hypno-Disc also remember Extreme and 5 were aired at same time and remember S3 retired Plunderbird so who’s to say S3 is responsible for Plunderbird’s absence.

@cr10001

Wilf Thing vs Dominator - never mind JP's babbling, Wild Thing just outdrove Dominator, from what I could see. Wild Thing's biggest asset was always its manouvrability and control, the spinning weapon in this iteration seems pretty useless. And similarly Tornado vs 3 Stegs - Tornado's weapon wasn't the decider, Tornado's speed, manouvrability and sheer pushing power was what did it. I got irate with the house thugbots interfering, even if they legitimately could, they were just a distraction. Spider vs Behemoth - again, the speed and manouvrability of Behemoth (plus that lifting scoop) decided it. Not sure if Behemoth's new axe did a lot. The 'mayhem' fiasco I won't even comment on, except that the house robots should be permanently done away with after that blatant interference with the fight. All the wrestling-style tough talking gets old very quickly. They should all leave it to Team Plunderbird who can act it properly. Razer vs Pussycat - again it was down to who was quicker and more manouvreable, though this time the weapons did play a significant part. I thought it was all over for Pussycat when Razer impaled them and picked them up, they were lucky it didn't hit a vital part. To give the Razer team credit, they took their defeat in good humour this time, Pussycat seemed almost embarrassed by their repeated win. The after-match discussion looked as pleasant and genuine as the pre-match confrontation was faked for the producers.

@BambiTrout 4 жыл бұрын
@@crystalheart9 They were definitely more effective before. Without the disc they could easily trap robots on the wedge using the arm and push them around the arena. The arm was also able to be used as a flipper, which wasn't really possible once they added the disc. They would have been better using the extra weight to just increase the armour and maybe upgrade the power and motors. I've not watched any of the 7th wars since I was about 6 so I don't know how successful they were, but I know they got rid of the flywheel and switched to a more pushbot style, because speed and control were what Wild Thing's real strengths were.
