That second heat melee was an interesting one - I don't think Mazakari was necessarily immobilized internally because the wheels were still spinning, but Iron Awe definitely did break down. I think Mazakari should have gone through

Steg 2 is a great robot, and for its time a hugely powerful flipper, but part of me always wishes they'd just stuck with brute force and drive power of the original. All they needed to do was upgrade the armour and give it a srimech and it still would have been a serious contender in this wars. Maybe my vision is slightly blurred because Steg-O-Saw-Us is one of my all time favourites and Steg 2 never quite lived up to it imo (we don't talk about 3 Stegs To Heaven...)

I always felt bad for the Mortis team, with them having to deal with the ridiculous expectations heaped on them by the producers and commentators. The team themselves are clearly trying to stay humble (especially since in 3 wars they accomplished little) while everyone else around them hypes them up. Interesting that Craig makes an England National team reference towards Crusader 2 when the analogy seems more fit for "perennial underachievers" Mortis.

They had a flawed design in the depth somewhere so it had those weaknesses that just could not be patched away. It destroyed itself with the axe use, the flipperrod was too weak and too small for precision use, etc. Overall a great concept. Just need a full rebuild from the bottom up to iron out those internal-looking issues.

Both of Iron Awe’s uncut fights in this Heat have been uploaded elsewhere on KZbin, and personally, can see why chunks were taken out. Robot Wars is pretty notorious for its editing decisions (especially when it comes to presenting fights that went to the judges). In this case though, there‘s a lot of dead air and Steg 2’s slow turning is even more apparent. Not really what the producers wanted for keeping viewers invested.

Hilarious part is that Robot Wars wasn't really a pay-to-win thing back then. Plenty of insanely expensive machines appeared... and then we had 101 that was a 9 dollar budget with salvage yard visits for the rest XD. And that thing's been in semi finals and finals iirc. It shows that a robot you can control and is sturdy is important.

What the actual FUCK!!? In the first fight Cronos got absolutely raped by the house robots! It WAS NOT out of the battle yet but Sir Killalot carried it to the pit and Cronos lose the fight because of it... I understand that they can attack and cause damage when robot enters their territory, but wasn't that just purely unfair? Like the house decided that Cronos will be eliminated.
@halkitchen18383 жыл бұрын

Either the editing is completely fucked, or the house thugbots just decide to attack anyone at random. Or both. The series would be so much better and fairer without them. The only time they provide any entertainment value is when a competing robot has a go at them (like Steg 2 did).

I'll explain. As Chronos' driver explained, he lost control of the robot and it was not doing what it was being told to do through that transmitter. For safety reasons, that is considered as immobilization. Sir K's driver was probably told to pit it ASAP for saftey concerns. The same thing happened a year later when 101 and King B had their vengaence battle in Extreme 1. King B went nuts, so Sgt Bash and Shunt pinned it in a corner and then threw it in the pit.

Iron Awe should've been eliminated, not Mazakari. The fight should've been paused to get the latter off Mortis' lifting arm; Iron Awe was the one that properly lost mobility. I also like how people complain about Razer holding onto its opponents indefinitely when the team never did that (at least not on purpose), but don't act as if Mortis did so with Mazakari here. Also, why was the pit so shallow in the Pinball Warrior Tournament here? It's supposed to be deep enough to contain the big sphere, yet it's not even deep enough to prevent the small balls from getting knocked back out.

I honestly think the house robots went too far with Kronos, their intervention saved Steg 2 who I think was immobilised but Kronos wasn't till Sir Killalot pitted them which I think is against the rules because it's way too much. Barrels were 5 a piece and only three were knocked down, so that's 15. They hit the 50 point target after, so that's 65. Releasing the balls gets you only 10, and each bowling ball that went into the pit is 5 a pop. So... that's how they only got 75.
